Lovely apartment beneath Edinburgh Castle

Situated in a great location, just 5 mins walk from Grassmarket and 10 mins walk to the Castle and the Royal Mile. The apartment was clean and comfortable and a good likeness to the photos. The beds were comfortable. Good welcome pack with enough shower gel and shampoo to last our short break.

Hot water didn't work at first due to no water pressure. Upon phoning booking agent, I was told to watch the video (in welcome email) on how to top it up. Would expect this to be checked by the cleaner every time there is a change over. The back garden has been used as a dumping ground and is very unsightly and doesn't give a good impression.

Great apartment in a too location. We could walk to anywhere we wanted to be in the city in under 20 minutes.

Not that well equipped. No storage in the main bedroom and not enough crockery for more than one meal.

The location is perfect for the Fringe / city break with easy walking access to the city. At night, despite the location, there was very little noise.

It IS compact, and the bedroom with the en-suite is small. The fact that the wardrobe in the small room was full of cleaning equipment and has a sign saying ‘for staff use only’ (missing in any photos) was annoying… where else are we expected to hang clothes?

The key situation was horrible. There was one physical key and it was old and you had to lock yourself into the apt with this old key. it was difficult to manage the coming and goings of five adults. In addition, i emailed the property several times with no response about the beds, additional beddings, and the inability to get the sleeper sofa out.

It was exactly how it showed online , the owner was prompt honest and kind

Fantastic location. Very quiet. Only improvement would be blockout curtains and milk in fridge on arrival. Easy walk to everything you need.

As soon as you walk in to the exterior entrance, there was trash pile up under the stairwell, which is very off putting especially for the first-time travelers in my group. There was an old lock on the apartment door that was stuffed with a tissue - again, off putting. There were no apparent linens for the sofa bed and, when we looked in the cupboards, there was a pile of dirty linens and a vaccum hose all wrapped up. Water on the bathroom floor and a handle that fell off the first time we used it. Management sent cleaners over for new linens but didn't tell us they were under the sofa bed - there wasn't room to expand the sofa bed anyway - so it was overall a poor experience.
