Dawn Ranch

While the setting is beautiful, we were disappointed in the cabin and service was inconsistent. We rented a Redwoods cabin. It was VERY small- barely room to walk around a queen size bed. The bathroom had 1 hook for a towel- no shelving, no rack or hook for sink towel, nowhere to hang clothes or toiletry bag. The “closet” was a bar with hangers over the coffee set up area and mini fridge( and I mean mini- my college dorm fridge was bigger) so you couldn’t hang anything longer than a short shirt (and we were there for a wedding). The bird guide book cover was greasy dirty - had to wash my hands after picking it up. The lighting in the bathroom was poor and no shower fan. The food was just ok. The pastries were delicious. The restaurant was not open for lunch - thankfully the walk into the small town for a few restaurants was short. The breakfast was ok- service not great- waitress forgot to come back - no coffee refill and no asking if all ok. Check in did their best to accommodate early check in -got us in at 2:00. Earlier in the week we stayed just down the road in Forestville at an Airbnb- was a MUCH better experience and just as beautiful.

Charming cabins amidst the giant redwoods! Directly on the Russian River with kayaks available. The pool was nice. Fairly quiet property with a lot of families. The Lodge restaurant was convenient… we had a wonderful dinner!

The Meadow cabin interior space is tight!

I’m a bit conflicted after my stay at Dawn Ranch. There’s a lot to appreciate, but also a few frustrating aspects that really affected our experience. The positives first: The grounds are stunning—immaculately maintained gardens, serene pools, and towering redwoods that create a truly peaceful setting. The restaurant, while pricey, offers delicious dishes and a lovely, unpretentious atmosphere. The staff were warm and accommodating, especially helpful with our 3-month-old. Now, the drawbacks: We paid extra for a larger cabin, only to discover at check-in that it was located across the highway from the main property. This was disappointing, as all the reasons we chose to stay at Dawn Ranch—the inviting pool, the dock, the charming restaurant—were not easily accessible from where we were placed. These features were prominently highlighted in their Instagram and marketing materials, which gave the impression that they were just outside our door. At check-in, a staff member quickly ran through the map, mentioning our cabin in "The Grove" was a short four-minute walk from the main area. In reality, it required crossing a busy highway and walking several hundred yards—not ideal, especially with a baby. It didn’t feel safe or convenient. The area we stayed in also had no food or beverage service, no filtered water, and essentially no connection to the main lodge. We felt cut off. To their credit, another staff member showed more empathy and offered us a smaller room on the main property. Unfortunately, it was far too small for us to manage with a baby, so we declined. Another major letdown: Our cabin didn’t match the photos. It had chipped paint, scuffed walls, a stained rug that smelled unpleasant, and an overall worn-out feel. I didn’t even feel comfortable taking my shoes off—definitely not somewhere I’d let a baby crawl. Dawn Ranch has real potential, but the experience didn’t live up to expectations. The marketing should be more transparent, especially regarding which cabins are off-site. If you’re planning a stay, I highly recommend booking a cabin on the main property to fully enjoy everything it has to offer.

Delightful boutique rustic chic property. Clean, great location, comfortable, nice amenities and a fantastic restaurant and bar!

Street car noise

The spa is wonderful, I have been several times now with friends while our partners golf near by. Their business practice is another story. I was booked for a different time-slot than agreed, when calling to fix they agreed to credit the first booking then pushed me to reserve a longer treatment at a discount still thinking that we agreed on a credit from the original booking. Come to find out I was charge for both then told that I misunderstood and that I would not be given the credit. I am really sad that I will not be back here, it’s such a wonderful relaxing place to bring friends and have our partners golf before meeting up for dinner in town.

We had a perfect time - we were transported to another land. Can't wait to return!
