Royal Oak

Staff were great, breakfast is 2 options Continental or English. Room was clean, Pub downstairs was very nice and I couldn't hear anything from the Pub in the room either. Neighborhood is a delightful place to walk around, beautiful stream and park 5 minutes away. Convenience store on the corner. There was always a parking spot available and we needed it.

This could have been a very nice stay, since the room was nice and clean and seemed to have been recently renovated BUT we could not sleep because of the insane amount of air freshener used in the room. We unplugged the dispenser, aired the room for hours, but the pungent vanilla scent had permeated every fiber in the room. My husband and I both felt sick because of it!!

Location was brilliant for us as we were going from dover to dunkirk, we only stayed 1x night; so everything was good for us.

The single most friendly group of people we came across the whole trip. Rarely are the accommodations such a highlight, but the Royal Oak was fantastic.

As long as you are aware it's an old English pub, there are no real faults.
