Xanadu Makadi Bay - High Class All Inclusive

This was our third trip to Egypt but first stay at Xanadu Makadi Bay hotel and wow we loved it! Staff - So very welcoming, patient and knowledgeable when we arrived. Would not let us carry a bag and assured we’d find them in our room, bags made it there before we did! Relations team were very knowledgeable and helpful with any questions we had. Maintenance teams very friendly and accommodating. Entertainment team - Make an effort to get to know you and find out what you and your family enjoy, in particular Paulo and Tarzan, great guys and really work to include the kids if they want to join in anything. Waiting staff - Absolutely fantastic, if you find yourself down at the pool during the day or sky bar at night Karim Mohammed is your guy! This man made us so welcome and treat us like royalty, he was not too much, he made sure our family had everything we needed at all times, thank you Karim! Rooms - We had an adjoining family room which was perfect for our two teen boys and us, nearby but privacy. We had a 2nd floor room that looked out over the gardens and the beach. It was super clean and well looked after by the staff if we used the call button for it to be turned down each day. Buttons include “please clean”, “don’t clean” & “do not disturb”. Bed was kind of hard for me but husband and kids said it was super comfy, extra pillows too if you need. Aircon which was absolutely needed for the first few days was bliss until we got a bit used to the heat. Bathroom great size, very clean and lovely waterfall shower, shampoo, soap, conditioner (great to soften your hair after the beach or pool!), manicure set and nice big towels. I’ve seen some people mention the TVs aren’t great, but we don’t go on holiday to watch tv so not a biggy for us. You can change language to English in settings if you need, not smart TVs if that’s important to you. Food - Important part 😂 was delicious!! When you normally go all inclusive it can get a bit samey, not at Xanadu! The selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner is fantastic! So much choice you’ll never get bored. Fresh cheeses, meats, bread (bread is delicious), eggs every kind of way you want, a selection of hot sides that changes each day though some thankfully remain the same as they’re so good you want round 2. Fresh honey lots of different kinds, yogurts, fruits and vegetables that’s just for breakfast! We found we were too full for 3 full meals a day so would get breakfast then get a snack from the beach bar at lunch, the pizzas, burgers and shawarma were delicious. Dinner, I’m missing it already! They rotate all of the foods so you’re not eating the same thing on any day, always something different. Everything they make is just so tasty and I’d say more healthy choice than unhealthy, though you can whack a load of chips on your plate if you like! However they cook beef, if only restaurants here could cook it like they do at Xanadu, they have what I think is brisket, melts in your mouth! Lots of chicken and fish dishes available too aswell as a whole sushi bar. If you’re vegetarian the selection of hot and cold veg dishes are lovely! I found I could eat super healthy but really enjoy it (didn’t feel like I was living and breathing salad). The desserts wow! They are so creative with the desserts they make and so many, my fave though had to be the two stands of baklava, amazing. For kids a huge selection of sweet treats fresh donuts and waffles with all the trimmings. We can’t say enough about how good the food is at Xanadu and how excellent the chefs and waiting staff are, if you can’t find a table they won’t leave you waiting they’ll whip you one up fast as you like and make sure you’re sorted for drinks etc. Pool & Beach - Lots of pools to choose from, deepest is 2.5 metres and shallower ones for smaller kids. Very clean and plenty of space to enjoy, the pool bar has great food and pumps out drinks all day! Music played throughout the day with the entertainment crew providing activities such as water polo and water aerobics. The beach, if you normally find yourself by the pool I highly recommend you spend a day at the beach, it’ll change your mind, so clean and beautiful. Again you’ll have waiting staff on hand if you need drinks, also a camel being led around by a great guy. The amazing bit is the snorkelling, as Makadi bay has its own reef you can snorkel and see so many different types of marine life it’s beautiful, we were lucky enough to see a sea turtle! Entertainment - This can be a quiet relaxing holiday or packed full of activities if you like, there is a full program in the hotels lobby also on notice boards around the hotel, entertainment staff are great so worth checking out. There is a show in the outdoor forum each night, usually for about 30-45 mins and always good to go to after your evening meal. Facilities - There is a great full air conditioned gym, two boys went daily and loved it. The hotel also has a spa, we went for full body massage, facials and husband and boys went for hair and beards sorting (great haircut) and massage was devine! One thing to be very clear about is get a price written down on a receipt before you pay! They change prices, give you deals, but if it’s not written down you’ll pay full price. There are a few shops in the hotel lobby and more down by the beach, have everything you need from personal care to snorkelling gear. As it’s not a true review without some sort of feedback, the only thing I did not like at Xanadu was when you get sat down by the pool, lay back close your eyes next minute you’ll have Staff from the spa and the excursion team coming round asking if you want a treatment or go swimming with dolphins etc. I thought this would go away after day 1 but it didn’t even with quite persistent “no thank yous” was quite annoying. However not until our last day did I see that you could get a Do not disturb sign from the towel kiosk, if you put that up on your poolside umbrella they shouldn’t bother you. I appreciate they’re there to sell what they have to offer but no should be enough. We’ve arrived home and will be booking again for next year, we will be looking at September or October this time, simply due to the blazing heat. You get used to it of course but wow it’s hot! Thank you to all at Xanadu for an amazing holiday and again Karim Mohamed is an asset to your hotel, huge thank you from the family!

We had an exceptional employee at this hotel, who delighted us with something every day. His name is Fawaz and he made our stay much more pleasant. Every day he arranged a towel animal for our child.

We chose Xanadu Hotel for the first time, and overall, the experience was very pleasant. Upon arrival, the reception staff was extremely friendly and patient, kindly answering all our questions, especially since it was our first stay here. We were pleasantly surprised with our room: a lovely ground-floor unit with direct access to the pool. It was a unique experience that we had never had before. Special thanks go to Mohamed (Salem), who arranged this room for us and to whom we are very grateful for his attention and kindness.Feel free to talk to him if you have any issues with your room – he’ll always find a way to sort it out. He’s really resourceful, polite, and smart. I added his family name in brackets because there are so many with the first name Mohamed – I think it’s the most common name there: at the reception, at cleaning, on the beach, at the pool – most of them were called Mohamed 🔹 What we liked: Cleanliness and the consistently friendly, helpful staff across reception, housekeeping, entertainment, and restaurants. The breakfast buffet was very diverse, offering everything from made-to-order omelets (with ingredients of your choice) to hot dishes, cheeses, soups, desserts, and truly delicious fresh juices – the mango and strawberry juices were outstanding! A great variety of desserts, with a dedicated baklava stand, many cakes, and a wide selection of fruits (mango was definitely our favorite!). The snack bar by the main pool served tasty hamburgers, wraps, and pizza, with fast and attentive service. The entertainment team was active, friendly, and always present at the pools and the beach. The resort itself is very large and well-organized, with main buildings, villas with shared pools, and even private pool villas (depending on the room type chosen). The beach was very clean and well-maintained, with daily activities. Every evening there were shows at the open-air theater near the beach, easily accessible by electric carts that arrived every few minutes. 🔻 What could be improved: The TV in the room was outdated and didn’t allow us to connect our phones. Also, most of the channels were Egyptian, so it wasn’t really useful. Lunch and dinner, while varied, became repetitive after a few days. Side dishes were almost always the same (French fries and rice), salads couldn’t be customized, and the cooked dishes rotated every one or two days. Sushi and seafood (such as mussels and fried calamari) were available daily, but the overall menu could definitely be more diversified. All in all, we had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday, with good-quality services and a welcoming atmosphere. Xanadu Hotel is a resort we gladly recommend, with just a few areas for improvement regarding the main meals and in-room amenities. We would be happy to return

This resort has no terms of comparison. It’s the most impressive resort I have ever been to, it beats Desert Rose from Hurghada which I’ve also been to. However, the cherry on the cake for us was Lagoon Lounge. It’s the perfect spot to stay in after a long day of sunbathing, playing in the pool, aquapark and also it’s close to the beach. It’s such a cozy atmosphere, the music is really nice and very well selected. We went to all the bars in the resort, but the cocktails anywhere else were meh, the service wasn’t particularly good and the friendliness of the servers were based on the tip you give them. However, our server, Yusif, was absolutetly amazing, always smiling, always asking us if we feel good or if we need anything else and truly deserves all the tips and smiles. The bartender, Mohamed, is simply too skilled in comparison to all the other bartenders from the resort. He makes everything with such care, dedication and always made sure the drinks taste good by asking us and everyone else. I never write reviews on the internet, but these two guys really touched our hearts and we are grateful to have met them in our little vacation 😇❤️. If Xanadu management reads this, we would ask you and firmly recommend you to either raise their salary or at least get the other bartenders and servers in the resort to raise their standards and be at their level. They are very nice, hard-working people and create a wonderful image of Xanadu Makadi Bay for the tourists that come here. Thank you for all the nights, laughs, stories and special cocktails, guys! It was a magnificent journey for me for the 2nd time…i was in 2024…..and again back in 2025… Reception was very wonderful but not all guys give you the same help…..bars are 10/10…….barman 10/10……breakfast 100/10!!! Most excellent one…. The lunch 7/10…….the dinner is 8/10…… Food quality are very good but for days we cant see much variety……where shrimps?? Where is grilled meat??? Where is grilled kabab??? Where is grilled chicken or shis tawook?? Where is grilled or fried salmon fish??? About rooms ….for more than two person it is too narrow….triple rooms or double with children is too narrow space……they should upgrade… Aqua park is amazing place……sea is magnificent…sea workers are very helper…..golf cars are available…..but in crowded times hotel need to push more cars….. Snack food bar….is so magnificent… There is fresh orange strawberry and guava….juice all time…. Very great hotel……. Very great accommodation…. But better to upgrade negatives to be the beat place all over egypt

We had an excellent stay at this hotel and everything exceeded our expectations. The service quality was outstanding, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was very welcoming. I would like to give special recognition to the receptionist, Mohamed Salem, who truly made our stay memorable. He was highly professional, polite, and attentive at all times. He greeted us warmly, provided clear and helpful information, and always handled our requests with efficiency and care. His positive attitude, patience, and excellent communication skills created a wonderful first impression and made us feel genuinely valued as guests. Thanks to his professionalism and dedication, we felt very well taken care of. I strongly believe he is an asset to the hotel, and I hope his great work is appreciated by the management. We will definitely recommend this hotel to others and look forward to returning!

This was our second visit to Xanadu Makadi Bay after a wonderful first stay, and it still stands out as one of the best resorts in Egypt. The biggest highlight is the food and drinks, which are on another level compared to many other resorts. From the stunning patisserie desserts to the wide choice of all-inclusive premium drinks, the culinary experience is first class. Entertainment and sports facilities are also excellent, with good shows, plenty of activities, and beautifully kept grounds that give the whole place a lively atmosphere. We stayed in two different rooms during our visit, both charming. The second was a complimentary upgrade after a brief power outage, which was a kind gesture. It’s worth noting that only the main building has a generator, not the dunes. Wi-Fi is more reliable than before, though the login system could be made easier. Service was generally warm, but compared to our last visit we noticed fewer personal touches. Last time we received small souvenirs, a personalised WhatsApp farewell, and very quick responses to questions. With the resort busier now, the team seemed more stretched, which may explain the difference. The à la carte restaurants were good, though we missed some dishes from the Egyptian/Middle Eastern menu, which has changed. The buffet is excellent, although the selection is clearly more generous on arrival days than on regular days. A special thanks to the buggy drivers, who were outstanding when I lost my phone during the blackout. They went above and beyond until I got reunited with my phone. Our pool, with its fantastic views, was another highlight, though the bubble system and night lighting could use an upgrade. This brilliant resort continues to offer very high standards with some of the best food and entertainment you’ll find in Egyptian resorts. A few timely updates—such as replacing sliding door locks for safety, adding quieter AC units, and refreshing certain fixtures—would make it even better. Bringing back the extra personal touches would also help keep it at the top of its game. Even so, it’s still a resort we’re happy to recommend and would gladly return to.
