Xanadu Makadi Bay - High Class All Inclusive

On the whole the resort was wonderful, staff all amazing food appeared good (not keen on the French) but amazing in the 🇮🇹 and Far East. BUT………… The other guests were mostly Local or Russian and on the whole were a joy to be with apart from their kids running around the main restaurant sticking their dirty fingers in the food. Not only a food contamination issue but a trip hazard to other guests and the risk of the staff pouring hot food on their little heads causing serious burns. I approached the manager on this who said next week most kids have gone back to school so only a couple of hundred will be on site. Not a good reply IMO. Also, the sound levels/acoustics in the main restaurant were almost unbearable at busy time. The Dune swim up room was a delight but ours was close to the next hotel which was being renovated, so the noise and being over looked by contractors was an issue. The beach was very good, always loungers to find and the service was a plenty. The last full day a Tiger Shark was spotted in the bay, access to water was promptly and professionally restricted unlike the hotel next to Xanadu. This is documented with pics on a Xanadu fb site if the hotel questions this. Heard lots of times, “Never been any Sharks in Makadi Bay”. All the pools were brilliant, empty loungers everywhere even though the hotel was near capacity and again the service was spot on. Tipping was welcomed but it never seemed a requirement. Had mild diarrhoea during the stay, (did not eat anywhere else apart from Xanadu) which was kept at bay with Imodium, but a couple of days after returning home the “Pharaohs Revenge’ hit home big time. So not happy as I had to have unnecessary time off work!! Top Tips: Get a private transfer to and from the airport it’s only around £22pp for a 40min drive, bargain. Our first night was in a swim up room in the main building, be careful which side your allocated as the sun will not be on the pool after lunchtime. Avoid the ones that face North. Hotel Ideas: The shuttle runs frequently to the beach and aqua park. Would be useful if it also went to and from the main lobby. Lagoon pool and Lounge bar were excellent. Would be even better if it was child free as there are plenty of other places for children to be. This would add a bit of privacy and sophistication to couples wanting to spend quiet time together. Can only give 3 Stars due to being ill and unruly kids being allowed to run amok where food is concerned. Also could make parts of the resort a bit more adults only oriented.

It was a very nice staying, a pleasure to stay at this resort. The staff was very very friendly, we had an amazing waiter called Rafik Hamdy who helped us a lot and made our breakfast and dinner experience much better. I reccomand this resort with all my heart! Thanks!

We stayed at this hotel with my wife for the second time. We paid €3,400 for 14 nights. To skip ahead: once again, the vacation exceeded our expectations — the hotel maintains a high standard. Now for the details. Territory The hotel has a huge, well-kept territory. You can also stroll along the promenade and see the beaches of neighboring hotels. Security guards are stationed at the borders, but they are always friendly and never interfere with walks. Housekeeping Rating — 4 out of 5. Not perfect, but generally good enough. Food & Drinks The main change compared to last year: imported alcohol is now available only in two bars — the Lobby and the Lagoon. This, of course, affected the taste of cocktails. However, thanks to the skill of the bartender at the adults-only beach bar (I’ll tell you more about it later), the drinks were excellent, and the difference between local and imported alcohol was barely noticeable. If you love beer as much as I do, make sure to try the draft Heineken — probably the best “hotel” beer I’ve ever had. The food is fantastic! At peak dinner hours it can be hard to find a free table, but the staff is always ready to help. We visited all the à la carte restaurants, and each was interesting in its own way, but the absolute winner for us was the Turkish restaurant Turkuaz. I still don’t understand how they managed to cook such an amazing beef kebab. Sea & Beach For us, this is the main criterion when choosing a hotel. The beach is wonderful: soft sand, convenient entrance into the sea. The depth varies in different areas — in some places just a few steps are enough, in others you need to walk a bit further. And most importantly, the hotel has its own coral reef, which is a great rarity for Hurghada. Having compared the neighboring hotels’ beaches, I can confidently say — Xanadu has the best one. Staff Special thanks to those who made our stay unforgettable: Ahmed Mahmud — bartender at the adults-only beach. Makes the best gin & tonic in the hotel, keeps cocktail proportions perfectly, always friendly and welcoming. He’s even ready to prepare a drink off the menu: “The menu is in my head,” as he says. Allam Safwat — beach staff. Sociable, friendly, always helped carry towels, and even taught me a few Arabic words. Luka — animator with the most stylish haircut and endless positivity. My regular opponent in beach bocce. If you enjoy the game, definitely play with him. Ali Salama — reception staff. Always willing to help, polite, with a great sense of humor. I saw him handle even the most difficult guests with ease. Conclusion I can confidently say: Xanadu remains our top choice in Hurghada. The beautiful grounds, delicious food, wonderful beach, and outstanding staff make the vacation truly unforgettable. We will definitely come back again!

Our experience at Xanadu was amazing Check in wasn’t the best experience because we arrived 9:30 but we got the key 2:15 I am sure some people check in early for their flights. Anyway this will not affect my 5 stars rating. The welcome drinks were amazing. The food was amazing all 3meals and snacks . The rooms are super clean. Beds are small to fit 2 people. We were a family of 3 and my daughter slept on the couch because how narrow are the beds. If you have trouble with walking, this hotel is not for you. There are shuttles and they come often but they drop off and pick up very far from the rooms. Especially in the summer and it’s 🥵. The aqua park is amazing. The main pool was so much fun. The animation was okay and the DJ is so rude. We asked him so many times at the end of the night when almost everyone is egyptian to turn on some Arabic songs and he ignored all of us. I can’t really understand why . That was on Sunday 21/8 . He kept saying tomorrow is the Egyptian night but it was actually our last night. I honestly can’t find a reason for him being that stubborn.

The stay was very wonderful and the food was excellent, except for the beach bar staff who were not interested in dealing with the guests.

I stayed at Xanadu Hotel Makadi Bay for 5 nights, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing holiday. 1- Main Restaurant: Overcrowded every day, extremely difficult to find a table, and the food was poor. At one point, I even found a hair in the meat sauce, which was disgusting and unacceptable. 2- A la Carte Restaurants: After the incident in the buffet, I chose not to complain loudly and instead tried to book the a la carte restaurants. Shockingly, they were all “fully booked” for the entire stay. Guest relations eventually managed to put us on a waiting list and secured 3 reservations by checking daily if a spot opened up. While I appreciated their effort, this system was stressful and inconvenient, and far from what should be expected at a 5-star resort. 3- Room Service: I requested an iron since mine was broken. Despite calling four times and waiting for more than an hour, nobody ever came. This caused us to miss our dinner reservation and the evening show, and I had to attend dinner in unironed clothes. 4- Cleanliness & Safety: The worst part was finding a lizard in our room, which terrified my children. 5- Poor Maintenance: Even basic equipment was not safe. The water boiler in the room was full of rust, making it impossible to use. 6- Guest Relations Behavior: When I reported issues, instead of receiving an apology, I was told: “If you don’t like our hotel, you can leave.” That level of arrogance and rudeness is unacceptable in hospitality. To make things worse, after I complained, the hotel stopped sending me the daily program schedule on WhatsApp, which felt like retaliation. Overall, this hotel completely failed to deliver the quality and service expected from a 5-star resort. Poor food hygiene, overcrowding, broken facilities, unsafe rooms, and unprofessional staff ruined our holiday. I would not recommend this hotel — there are much better resorts in Makadi Bay where guests are treated with respect.

Xanadu Makadi Bay has the worst management I have ever experienced. After a 15-hour flight with two children, the reception and manager were completely disrespectful and unprofessional. They demanded an extra $450 even though my reservation was correct and my children’s ages were entered properly. When I asked for help contacting Expedia to confirm the booking, they refused and left me to handle everything on my own. Instead of showing hospitality, they caused stress and humiliation at the very start of our vacation. This hotel’s management clearly does not care about guests, fairness, or basic respect. I would never return and strongly advise others to avoid this property

We stayed as a family from 21 to 26 August, booking two rooms in Building 3 (rooms 3337 and 3339). Our experience was truly memorable. We arrived at 11:00 am and the check-in was very smooth, completed by 11:30. Special thanks to Mr. Yousef from the front office,he is very cooperative and truly a gentleman. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and offer fantastic views of both the pool and the sea. A special thanks to Mr. Mostafa from housekeeping for his extra effort in keeping everything perfect. Breakfast was amazing, with a wide variety of food suitable for everyone. The à la carte restaurants were fantastic, especially Agora and the Italian restaurant. However, I didn’t enjoy the Indian restaurant (Taj Mahal) as much. All the bars, whether in the lobby or on the beach, were excellent, you can always find whatever you like. The pastries bar in the lobby is also a must try. The beach is very clean, and there are always sunbeds available at any time of the day. The animation team is very nice, engaging, and adds to the fun atmosphere. In addition a great highlight is the 24 hour shuttle bus service, it’s amazing and very efficient, with almost no waiting time. All staff members are polite, cooperative, and always smiling, which makes the stay even more comfortable Disadvantage: The only area that needs improvement is the Wi-Fi service on the beach, which could be better Overall, it was a fantastic family experience. Many thanks to all the staff for their great efforts, and also to the management behind them for leading such a nice team. We truly felt welcomed and would highly recommend this hotel for anyone.

My family and I stayed at this hotel for a week and it was one of our best holiday. The food is excellent, the beach is very clean with bars restaurants and entertainment. We surely will come back.
