Wonderful hotel full of history and inspiring stories. There is no physical staffing so it felt a bit impersonal (to us), more like an Airbnb. But a great place.

"Good value for a decent place to stay while sightseeing in Philadelphia."

7.0

It was centrally located, near the theater district, and good restaurants and entertainment.

It was quite noisy at times during the night, probably why they provide you with the earplugs on each nightstand. And the room that we had was extremely dark. It could definitely use better lighting and perhaps lighter walls.

"We really enjoyed our stay at Guild House. The history associated with it made our stay special."

10.0

The location was excellent. We could walk to every historic area. Although there wasn’t a physical staff at the hotel, the staff was quick to respond to our text and questions. We had the Wilma room which was on the first floor. There is no elevator, so this was a good choice. There is a dumbwaiter to use if you need to take your bags to the room or storage closet. I definitely recommend staying here if you visit Philadelphia.

Not having an elevator was a challenge when we arrived. Once we figured out how to use it, we managed okay

"Homeless in parking lot and on corner are a concern."

6.0

The room was generous in size. Some of the period details were skimped on. The Edith Piaf music blaring in the reception room felt forced and Disney. The ironing board needs to go in the armoire. The room having no window made it a bit scary.

We had asked to store our luggage after checkout so we could go to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. We were sent the new code. We took an Uber back to the Guild House and asked the driver to wait while we retrieved our belongings. I waited in the car. The new code op-ed the door but it would not open the luggage closet. My husband had to knock on every door to try to see if anyone had a different code. Finally, he found a cleaner who had a universal code - but of course this took time and stress. The visitor should not have to be the problem solver. If you want contactless “service” you need to proactively anticipate problems before they happen. No one wants to do the customer service themselves. That is part of what the inn keeper does. Someone should have checked in to see if everything went well with our picking up bags rather that assuming that everything is going swimmingly. Bad form.
