McMenamins White Eagle

It is a small, eclectic hotel so unique. I only stayed one night. It's not just dog friendly but PUPPY friendly too. 5/5 I would definitely stay again!

Beautiful room. Very comfortable.

I was unable to adjust the HVAC system. A very overworked bartender worked very hard to get it working and moved me to another room when her efforts did not work. My room was still 79 degrees and stuffy. The system seems to be programmed and you are unable to override the settings. The room I moved into had the same problem but it wasn't as hot so didn't bother her again. You can't run a motel relying on overworked bartenders to respond to issues. Please program the HVAC so you can turn on air for comfort

Nice enough for some budget accommodations, having to get decent to use the toilet at night gets a little tedious. If you are unfamiliar with Portland, this is not the "nice" part of the city, it's the "if you see another human after dark, you need to avoid them" part. Very conveniently located by the railyards though.

Characterful, nice bar and staff, close enough to walk into the city.

Music venue is excellent with a great crowd! Rooms are not fancy, but it’s a unique place to stay. Staff members were super friendly.

The facility was fantastic. So much history with the hotel and bar downstairs. Gets pretty noisy in the morning though on the weekdays from other establishments next door.

I had a few issues with the stay. The first was that they didn't have my reservation. They got it worked out, but it was a problem. The second issue was that the attached restaurant and bar had a band that night and I couldn't eat there without paying the cover charge. They wouldn't even let me sit on the patio and eat. Finally (this doesn't play into the rating) there are no TV's in the room and the restroom is shared in the hall.

Arrived for my stay after bar close, no way for me to check into the hotel.
