Andrea, the owner, is amazing! So helpful and kind! Ask her for advice and tips :) Room is great, clean and comfortable. The place has kind of a hostel vibe in that there is a small kitchen in the lobby where you run into the other guests, as well as the staff. So if you wish to be social you’ve come to the right place. Complementary coffee is a big plus! Location is good, 10 mins walk to the beach and about the same to the main street.

You can hear ALL the noise from outside (at least in the rooms with balcony) but you are supplied with ear plugs, which helped a lot! Everything else has been great!

Usually I never write reviews but I was very happy with the hotel. Very good and reliable communication, clean and stylish, great athmosphere and useful add ons like a water fontain, coffee and a toster. Thanks for the stay!

The owner, Andrea was very pleasant and helpful. Helped me to find taxi at very early morning hours and made sure the ride was there, gave me some tips for what to see in town, made me feel welcomed. It was also very nice to have drinking water available for free in the kitchen, it saved me time looking for refill stations and spared some unnecessary purchase of plastic bottles.

The room was nice and modern, it was comfy and had everything you needed.

The pool is super shaded so it doesn't get any sun at all. The entrance to the beach is a long way away 20+ mins so might not be the perfect location for all.

The property is located far enough from the noisy 5th Avenue and it’s surrounded by an interior courtyard, which makes it quiet at night. It’s good value for money, parking is free on the street it’s located on and the personnel is very kind. It’s a suitable spot if you’re leaving early in the morning, come back at night and don’t mind the humidity.

Like many other accommodations in the area, it is extremely humid (at least at the end of October), it is very small and not the cleanest.

My husband and I booked Rodina as it was the only property that stood out in the under ~30USD/day budget that we were looking for! It was a great bang for our buck in the sense that it had a lovely bohemian chic interior, free good coffee, an outdoor pool, nice and firm mattress, good air-conditioning, and only a 10 mins walk to the 5th avenue. Andrea, who's the co-owner of the hotel, was a lovely person to hang with and get all the Playa del Carmen travel tips from! Edgar from the staff was also very sweet and helpful. They even let us an check-in early and check-out later flexibly. Also, excellent communication since the time of booking till arrival!

I just wish their staircase that winds up till the first floor had wider steps at the top. It gets a bit narrow there. :)

I love the design of the room and pool area. Our room was spacious and we had everything needed in the room :) Process of checking in and out was so easy. Communication with the staff was very good. Walking distant to 5th ave is plus too. Highly recommend this place !

We stayed over a week in one of the suites. There's no reception desk, but if needed, we could easily message the host and she was answering quickly. The place was also really clean. Air conditioning was working properly.

The only thing negative that I would mention is that the door of our room was right in front of the street. It didn't always felt safe and it was pretty noisy (dog barking, car, etc.). But overall, we enjoyed our stay.
