Cambria Hotel New Haven University Area

The location and hotel are nice. Unfortunately despite having the DND tag on the door the housekeeping supervisor came into my room. Essentially justifying it by saying she “needed” to put some sign in my room. I feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe being here when a privacy tag means nothing. Also I’m checking out tomorrow. That sign could have easily waited to be put in my room tomorrow for the next guest. Note that privacy does not mean privacy at this hotel.

HIGHWAY ROBBERY We had one room for three nights over Memorial Day weekend 2025. For this we were charged over $2000. We booked in January and we were told this was the best rate for those days and it was nonrefundable. When we arrived on Thursday May 22, I pulled up the Cambria website and it had vacancies for that day - for under $200. Cambria's chain says they will match the lowest listed price, but when I asked about this after we had finished our travels, I was told that individual hotels in the chain did not have to apply that policy. I tried to contact the manager of the Cambria about this. When I got no response to my emails, I called the front desk and asked to have the manager contact me. No one has ever gotten in touch with me. And for that outrageous rate, the hotel room had plastic cups!

Just thought the room was really nice as well as the fitness center

The bar not opening until 5 so if I wanted to get lunch there I couldn’t. The garage being a separate charge ridiculous this is not a luxury property with valet. Short staffed you could definitely tell this place doesn’t have people. The location is what’s expected it to be. Connecticut isn’t on of those places you pick to go to you go because there’s a reason to be there.

The room was ok. We had to search for the toilet paper to put on the holder. No big deal. We arrived on a Thursday night. When we left Friday morning the housekeeping request was left hanging on the doorknob, but the beds were unmade and the coffee was not replenished when we returned Friday afternoon.Then I had to go downstairs to pickup more coffee. Saturday morning I made a point to talk to the front desk about the lack of housekeeping. I was assured that it would be addressed. Saturday evening when we arrived back, still nothing had been done. I called the front desk again to complain. This time the coffee and creamer were brought up. They did ask if we had enough towels. The restaurant has limited hours and choices.
