Pousada Haya

This is a beautiful property in Sao Miguel dos Milagres. The breakfast is mind blowing. The rooms were beautifully decorated and give a fancy in the jungle vibe we really liked. The food and drinks we had at the only restaurant in the property (also where you have breakfast) and the pool bar were good.

The service is good but not super professional. I appreciate it is hard to get properly trained staff specially in this part of the country. I don’t know how to explain this but they act a bit apologetic and you end up feeling sorry for them. The private beach was secluded and could have been a piece of heaven but it was poorly maintained. They don’t keep the beach chairs there (no sun beds by the way) and so it feels like we are bothering when we ask to put chairs there. It was also a bit dirty, with visible trash left by guests the day before which had not been collected by them. It felt a bit “abandoned”. Overall, it’s a beautiful and comfortable hotel; but way too expensive for what it offers specially in that region of the country. We travel everywhere in the world and for this price we expect to get more. Unsurprisingly, the hotel was quite empty. One more thing, when we arrived, the lady at the reception struggled to explain to me the services at the hotel. She kept repeating all the information would be sent by WhatsApp. I appreciate the direct contact with staff, but the minimum I expect at this price point is a reception that can explain to be the amenities and facilities (which are great but not extensive).
