A charming Public house originally built in the 1700s with few rooms upstairs and in an attached cottage. A short 10 minute walk from a portion of the Cotswold way, including the Harefield beacon, with a view from Wales to Glouchester. Menu includes some Greek dishes. Proprietors very hospitable and helpful.

"Very good"

8.0

Friendly owners and staff. I was able to check in later than usual, as I was involved in an event in town. The bar was lovely and oldy worldy. Room was warm and cosy and clean. Lots of tea and coffee.

Bathroom was a bit cramped, but the room was in an annexe and the buildings are historic, so I think the conversion meant squeezing facilities in, wherever they could. Still ok though.

"A very pleasant place to sit and eat"

10.0

I spent 3 hours in this pub with two elderly friends, we stopped for lunch. Apparently it's under new ownership. They have a Greek chef so we chose to have Moussaka with a feta cheese salad and really chunky chips (£15 per head). One of my friends had exactly the same only as a small plate. Beautifully cooked and presented which we really enjoyed. We were so full we didn't need any desert. As the weather horrendous we sat with a pot of tea and a cafeteria for quite a long while waiting for the weather to ease. Although a very old pub, very smart and modern ladies toilets and easy access for anyone with walking difficulties so long as you enter by the side door. One friend who knew the area said they had vastly improved the view from the rear of the Inn looking over the valley. It was a very pleasant place to eat, no overpowering music and the seating is either in the conservatory which was light and bright or in the more traditional side which was darker and cosy. They're open for B&B and are starting Sunday lunches from the end of September. I would certainly eat here again.
