Atelier Skalo Boutique Hotel

The owner and staff were super friendly and helpful. They truly understand service and making you feel special. The location of this hotel is one of its biggest assets, it is a very short walk to the shopping and dining options in Punda, where you can then walk across the swinging bridge into Otrobando. We walked everywhere around Willemstad comfortably. We rented a car for 3 days and it was easy enough to travel the island and get back to the hotel; parking is very limited. I've read reviews where people gripe abut everything not being perfect..there are no perfect hotels. This is a quaint facility, kept clean and tidy, with a very nice dipping pool at a terrific location and with a good value. We are discussing coming again someday...

We really appreciated the warm welcome after a long flight. Spacious room and very comfortable bed. Good breakfast, although the signs about a charge for a second hot drink are a bit off-putting. Very clean and staff are very helpful. A little oasis of calm! Very convenient for all locations. Some noise from the alleyway. All in all, a very enjoyable stay!!

The hotel is a restored colonial style building and is very well maintained. It still has all the comforts of a modern hotel. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We had been traveling in the Caribbean for a few weeks at this point staying in airbnbs which were all nice but not as well kept as this place. What I liked best was that it was the most sealed room I had been in for weeks. Even the fairly nice Airbnb’s we had been staying in were not the most sealed and we spent a few more nights than we would like sleeping in the same company as geckos and mosquitos, so the tightly sealed doors and windows were very much appreciated. It has a nice little pool with a decent view of some cool colonial style buildings. It is a short walk to a neighborhood with lots of shops and places to eat and drink. Very nice accommodation but one thing I must mention was after using the shower the drain had a fairly unpleasant oder coming out of it. That may be something you deal with when staying here as my wife’s asked about the smell and the employee stated it is an issue with the city so there is not much at the moment that can be done. To the credit of the employee, she was quick to bring up an air diffuser to help with the smell. So her willingness to do what she could went a long way with us.

Boutique hotel in center of town, very interesting conversion/restoration of an older building. I would expect that each room will be different, maybe very different. We had a deluxe studio suite, with a balcony, nicely and interestingly decorated, bathroom was small in a European way. AC was a "mini-split" and worked perfectly and was quiet. No elevator, many rooms on second story, stairs are steep. Nice, if small, pool, heated.
