Madifushi Private Island

From the Male airport to the resort and back, we were carefully provided with all the services and information we needed. We were quite worried, being our first experience so far from home. Room service was provided twice a day, the food was varying every day, a smile on every member of the personnel's face every time we met. The rooms are huge and well equiped, pools cleaned daily by dedicated staff, privacy when you need it, 5 star services when you require them. But the main attraction is the water and its beauty. I've never in my life seen so many species of fish. It was enough to go snorkelling around the villa, but don't miss the free snorkelling session organized by the resort. The journey itself is memorable, but the reef and the life it hosts is beyond our imagination. Turtles, dolphins, stingrays, sharks, octopuses, triggerfish and so many other. At the end of the session we were waited with fresh fruits and cold water. There are so many people I would like to thank for making our stay so memorable: Kingston with his keen eye on detail, Sasha, so helpful and doing her best to fulfill our requests (and believe us, they were many...), Ibby, always there when you need guidance most, Mike, the child of the sea, and of course, the heart and soul of the island, Omar. Thank you for the bottle of wine, it was delicious. And the fact that we were offered another villa to stay between check-out and the seaplane departure, well, that simply turned our vacation into a dream one. Practically we extended it with one more day.. I apologise for not being able to reflect the entire experience in a few words. To put it simply we were on good hands. The small details build the big picture: fresh water in every corner of the island (rooms, boats, gym, you name it), a buggy to pick you up in case you are lazy, the free minibar, fruits in our villa at our arrival, a smile on every personnel' face, services done well, not just to check a box.

Complete mismatch of price and quality. Starting from the service (we waited for a buggy for an hour three times during a 7-day stay), ending with a dining hall instead of a dinner restaurant, with a choice of dishes worthy of a Turkish 3-star. There is no dress code (a guy was allowed into dinner in a robe!), and half-board also follows its own rules.

The seaplane lands right at island of the hotel, friendly staff, good internet.

Inside the villa the washing space is less than a meter, the location of the bath is simply terrible - in a dark corner, with a window overlooking to the wall. The robes are stiff and unpleasant. The swing at terrase is turned to the wall of the neighboring house. There is nowhere to put sunbeds, besides there are no sunbeds by default. There is a musty smell in the annex building. From the outside the villa looks primitive, an ordinary 3-star hotel villa. 'do not disturb' sign looks miserably. Cleaning is awful! Вuffet with no choice, the same thing every day, just tuna and sometimes some other tasteless fish. We did not see bananas for all 10 days. Breakfast was meager, tuna again, but from a jar. We indignanted that there is no salmon, they brought it for us but just for us. There is no toaster. Two types of terrible meat cuts.The atmosphere in the Blufin restaurant, where breakfasts, lunches and dinners are organized is like at a food court in a shopping mall, and the food quality are appropriate, everything is tasteless, meat is impossible to chew. There is a second "restaurant", we went here just once, and we didn't like it at all - no choice, no atmosphere. The water world is sparse, if you want to see beautiful fishes, then you are not here. The store is empty. It is very boring at the resort , live music plays at the restaurant but the sound is disgusting, also a sad saxophonist plays in the bar from 17:00 then he goes to the Fahrenheit restaurant. The hotel manager Omar is not interested in solving problems, he just nods and waits until you leave, barely hiding his irritation. The price is inflated two times, this is an absolutely ordinary unattractive 4-star hotel, where they save everything they can, this hotel is headed by not a professional, what is immediately evident by the work of the staff. We were guided by the reviews, the reviews turned out to be far from the truth.

New resort. Fishing trip. Jet ski trip.

They don’t provide enough bikes to rent, and they provide small quantity as first come first serve basis. Which is not the normal way in Maldives resorts. Only 2 restaurants the main and another one. The buffet is ok, not much varieties and taste. No as much activities as you would think, like outdoor cinema they did it only 1 time in 5 days. The romantic dinner was very expensive and below average food and decorations. The personal butler service was not understanding English very well and get me confused all the time. Also they are overwhelmed and busy with other guests. The overwater villa not very private (80% privacy) and i sent many requests to provide the most private villa two months earlier and they didn’t provide. After the second night they offered to make bed decoration and cake to celebrate my anniversary. The small things matter as they don’t take the extra effort to make it special.

Every design detail has been carefully thought out, the cleanliness-meals-coastal-ambiance is effortlessly flawless. All the staff make an effort for your happiness and this hotel will be in the top 3 of the Maldives in the future. We would like to thank Mr. Omer (the manager), Mo and everyone who took care of us.
