The Vale Hotel

I had my elderly parents with me, and as the building is old (16th century), additional mobility aids (i.e., lifts) were limited. The staff could not have been any more accommodating in giving me support to my parents up and down the stairs. We did not arrive until late evening, after a 10 hour drive, and again, the team went out their way to ensure we were settled into the rooms. The restaurant was opened specifically for us....and, due to my parents' simple palette, even cooked us fish and chips! A dish not on the  menu, but the owner made it happen. The friendly, caring, and attentive staff made our stay The room my parents were accommodated in was a large, immaculate, and with a large ensuite bathroom. My room was small. However, it was a single room, but again, it was exceptionally clean and comfortable.

Parking was limited, but this was mainly due to the village of Cricklade layout. I was fortunate to have a disabled badge, which gave me better parking oprioms. Generally, I would recommend this location for visitors with mobility issues, but the owner and staff went out now their way to support me, making our stay a 'home from home' visit.

Really enjoyed our stay here, this little hotel has real character, had really good dinner, and we loved our room, had an amazing sleep. And the host was funny and very welcoming. We plan to come back here again

Some quite charming features you expect of a centuries old building. The Thai restaurant food I would say was the best we have had (check what days open). The next evening we ate from an Indian menu inside the hotel, again the food was excellent - really.

Everything was spot on, clean, comfortable, and well run. Lovely place for a stopover.

There wasn't anything to dislike

Would highly recommend nice friendly staff very large selection of spirits and the food was brilliant.

Other than the room being a bit warm nothing else to say

Very friendly host, dinner in their restaurant excellent. Can tell food is made from scratch. Lovely flavours, both the slow cooked beef brisket and the chicken curry. Room was immaculately clean, nice thick towels and soft bedlinen. I have managed branded and non-branded hotels so can tell when a room is clean.
