B&B de la Fontaine

The location was perfect. The old building style also was very cute. The bed was comfortable.

The bathroom was so small, and basically in the bedroom. I'm a small person and felt claustrophobic. This was my biggest issue. We also had no wardrobe as mentioned in the description. I think we got a smaller room than the others available, even though we paid for superior.. You get woken up by every other guests on the stairs, but this was expected due to old building. The breakfast could also be improved. It was small and not many options.

Mon Dieu ! Une horreur !!! Et je pèse mes mots. Nous y avons séjourné en couple du 25 au 26 décembre, pire expérience de notre vie. Les températures a l'extérieur étaient en ressenti - 24° et les fenêtres en bois simple vitrage étaient calfeutrées avec de l'adhesif 🤦🏻‍♀️ la chambre étaient glacée a notre arrivée, des cheveux partout dans le lit même si les draps étaient propres, les serviettes de bains sentaient la moisissure, la salle de bain est franchement impraticable ou alors il faut être en taille S et il n'y a pas d'extracteur d'air donc toutes les odeurs se retrouve dans la chambre 😉 trés romantique de plus elle n'estpaschauffée. Le petit était ridicule et toujours ce froid, préparez vous des vestes polaires, d'ailleurs nous ne sommes pas restés. Pour la déco on repassera. My husband booked B&B de la Fontaine for three nights, October 20, 21 and 22nd. When we got out of our taxi in the pouring rain with two carry-on suitcases, I knew we were in trouble. There were two hanging pots with dead plants on either side of a door with peeling paint. That door led to a tiny area of steps and another door, both of which required an entry code and both of which were exceedingly heavy. We stood in the foyer dripping wet and looking for the envelope on the table with the key to our room, per the instructions we had received. In front of us was a formidable staircase with a turn near the top. When the proprietor, with whom you have to make reservations, told my husband the room was on the second floor, he asked if we would be able to manage our suitcases ourselves. She said we could. Barely! As we stood there, a woman came down the steps with a bowl, and a man, named Jeremy, came out of Room 1 holding dishes. The smell of cooking permeated the air. The woman asked for ice so Jeremy went down another flight to help her first. When he returned he asked us about the stairs and offered us Room 1, which we declined; my husband had chosen the upstairs room because he was told it was quiet. Jeremy carried our suitcases. Room 5 was dark and crowded. There was no closet or dresser so I suspect we were supposed to live out of our suitcases for 3 days. There was a stain on the bedspread and everything in the room was worn and mismatched. There is a balcony, which is probably a nice extension of the room, but even covered it was totally wet. We could barely maneuver around the bed because there were two chairs at the end. I will not attempt to describe the bathroom. Had it not been raining, we would have sought alternate accommodations immediately, but we waited until the morning. Breakfast was meh. Prior to check out time, my husband called the proprietor and told her we were leaving. He asked for a refund of one night's stay as a compromise. She told him she couldn't refund anything. Of course, she could. After the phone call, she offered to refund if she was able to book the room. After reading reviews saying she didn't refund $30 unauthorized deposits, I knew we were never seeing any money. My husband carried the suitcases down the stairs, one-by-one, while Jeremy watched and tried to sell me on a ground floor room. But by then we had had enough and were happy to walk a few blocks to a modern, clean, small hotel with lovely, helpful staff. If this review meets your idea of "charming," then go for it. It does not meet mine.
