Hotel Teranka

Teranka in Formentera is an absolute Gem. Besides the Beautiful Hotel fabulous staff on the stunning island of Formentera… it also offers the most incredible food ! Every dish was insanely good and on the roof top the dishes easily rival Nobu (the chef having worked there for many years / it shows :)). We went to Formentera for a 3 day couple break from the busy family life in Ibiza - and it was a 10 out of 10! Hands down one of THE best trips we have ever had.

We have stayed in Teranka for one week in August. The hotel has remote and exquisite location. It does come to its advantage, the nearby beach and sea are fabulous. The interior and exterior space is nicely designed and the rooms are fine, the beds comfortable, the bedsheets and towels of a very good quality. The pool area is very nice, the sunbeds are comfortable. The rooftop bar is superb, we highly enjoyed the evenings with the DJ there, worth attending. The breakfasts are very good, diverse, the quality of products is superb.

We could not find the intimacy and tranquility there. Music has been playing from the loudspeakers (located in every corner of the hotel) from early morning hours. Even while drinking early morning coffee on the balcony, we would hear music instead of cicadas or sound of the see. It was also hard to take an afternoon nap or relax; the cleaning staff was behind our doors literally all day. We could either hear vacuum cleaners or cleaning trolleys or the staff talking (in a tiny corridor with 4 rooms only). In terms of constant noises, sometimes we felt rather like in the dorm than in the small luxury hotel. The worst part however is when it comes to the hotel staff. It is neither helpful nor friendly as you would expect from the establishment with ambition. Actually it is even worse : it is patronizing and negatively proactive to the extent one may find them aggressive. Some of the staff members seem to be tense, some of them are not attentive at all and most of them enjoy common feature of being busy chatting with their colleagues throughout the whole day. Do not you dare approaching them, your request will be ignored at best. On the top of it there was rather annoying lady proactively eager to offer you some cloths every day, creating an impression of Turkish bazaar.

The staff were fabulous, breakfast was great, and the property was very well done.

The size of the room and the cupboard´s size

The hotel is in a stunning quiet location, literally on the dunes, 2 min walk to the beach. It couldn't get any better. It's beautifully designed with high attention to details and aesthetics, it's just stunning. One of the most beautiful hotels we stayed at. The soft style fits perfectly with the area and it is very summery. The service is friendly and food tasty. The rooftop terrace has a fantastic view on the sea and the sunset.

Our room was quite small, we struggled to move around and didn't have enough space in the wardrobe. For the price we paid, we felt it wasn't really value for money. We got quite disappointed to learn that the wine voucher we got as a welcome gift at check in did not work at the rooftop bar. We were told we can only use it with the dinner in the restaurant on the ground floor. Unfortunately we have had the dinner there a night before and forgot the voucher. In a hotel this class it is disappointing to hear "no, not possible", especially because it was a welcome gift, but felt more like a trick. It wouldn't cost the hotel anything extra to offer the wine upstairs instead of downstairs.

The location is inspired. A beautiful, natural, quiet, serene hotel with fabulous decor, everywhere beautiful, natural, rustic, earth colours and textures. You can walk from the outdoor dining area to the stunning beach along a sandy path in two minutes flat. Bliss.

Perhaps the hotel could have some rental bikes or run its own taxi service? The hotel is far-flung - wonderful of itself - but for seeing more of the island I think you need to bring a car over. The taxis on the island are few, and and if you have a young family you can't hire the mopeds.

A short stroll from the sea, it’s a stylish and well appointed boutique hotel, nestled in lush green pine trees and other indigenous flora. The rooftop bar offers indelible views of the well preserved natural surroundings as well as great cocktails, best enjoyed at sunset. It’s clear a lot of thought went into creating the best experience possible down to the smallest detail. The location, away from the Ibiza crowds descending onto ses Illetes, is ideal to explore the many surrounding beaches and coves.
