Le Grand Duc

Had a wonderful stay with Phillipe. A most gracious host with an amazingly creative mind that was reflected if the rather quirky and fantastic of the interior decor at Le Grand Duc. Rooms were also lovely and wow, the breakfast!!!?!! Home made jams and the biggest and tastiest croissants I’ve ever had! Not only that, Phillipe kindly opened up his beautiful house on a day he is not usually open on (Sunday). One couldn’t have asked for more, although we did book two rooms! Our classic cars felt very safe and secure behind the security gates and lively to talk to a fellow classic car enthusiast . We were even recommended a lively restaurant, l’escagot, which nicely ended the evening. Thoroughly recommend anyone to stay at this lovely chambre d’hote

Quirky but homely. Phillipe the host is warm, friendly, interesting and very entertaining. Beautifully furnished. Very clean & comfy. Lovely breakfast.

Family business required us to be in Valenciennes , this place was convenient, reasonable and appeared to have some charm. The owner’s restaurant recommendation was spot on.

The sun could have shone. A electric vehicle charger would really have been nice.

The house is quite unique

Very expensive breakfast & although we asked the host for a restaurant recommendation in town (which he did make a reservation for us..) It was very pricy & we decided to eat elsewhere, He was not too happy about that.. I think the restaurant he recommend was a family member or close friend & they take a commission.

Well! You have read all the reviews, why listen to me? As everyone says, this is an amazing place to stay, try it you won't be disappointed. Phillip is a great host, fun, clever,talented and just a little bit crazy. What an experience 👏.

If you dislike anything here you are overthinking life.

Ett fantastiskt hus att komma till. Så mycket konst och fin inredning. Varmt mottagande och fantastisk frukost. Trädgården var också en upplevelse där vi hade utsikt från vårat rum.

This fantastic restored house with a beautiful garden and unique decor provides you with every convenience. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom likewise and provides a wonderful shower. The breakfast is fresh and provided local products with gorgeous coffee Philippe is an enthusiastic host who is there for his guests and shares beautiful stories about the history of the house and how he came to bring it to its current state

Nothing, or it must be that the beds were a bit on the hard side, but that is very personal
