Ladybird Boutique Hotel at Kanonkop

The buffet breakfast was delicious. The bed was comfortable and I had a wonderful night's sleep.

Location was good, staff friendly

TV didn’t work, room a bit tired. When checking in after hours it took ages to get hold of someone to open gates

The location in the wine lands is really great, the menu with food options is absolutely delicious and the staff are really kind. It had things you needed, like a cot for the baby, kitchen amenities, space heaters etc.

We traveled with a 1 yr old so for us this wasn’t the most ideal property. The room still had trash in it from the previous person and the spray of the cleaner was way too strong with a baby. In general the property is really beautiful but it’s very small and there’s not space to walk around with a child, also could be quite dangerous with the pool and water below if you’re not careful.

We were upgraded to the suite which was very spacious and had a huge bathroom with big tub. The decor of the room was beautiful and the bed was super comfy. We didn't have time to explore the facilities or property as we were only passing through Stellenbosch for 1 night but it was a nice view from the balcony and I can see how it would be a cosy place to stay longer. We had been travelling for a few days so arriving at this B&B was perfect on a moody, stormy afternoon. It was so peaceful and relaxing, we were able to get some well needed rest and enjoy a lovely rose from the vineyard. We had lunch at Tokara Wine Estate on our way there and a fabulous tasting at Kanonkop the morning that we left. Highly recommend visiting both if you are staying here.

There is an electric gate at the entrance but no signage or intercom as to how to get in. I had to search for the phone number from our booking and try to reach them but we only had data and couldn't make calls. I ended up finding a WhatsApp number and am not sure if they saw us on a camera and opened the gate or if the WA call prompted someone but we got in in the end! Would be good to have clear instructions in the booking notes or an email and a sign at the entrance explaining how to access/contact. There could have been more drinking water provided in the room as the reception closes quite early. No power points in the bathroom for hairdryer etc which I found odd but other hotels in South Africa also seemed to be like this too.

The property is amazing and architecture is top class.
