Breakfast was varied (cooked English breakfast; cereals; yoghurt; fruit). The location was excellent: very central to the shrines and historical sites.

The cleanliness of the room was disappointing. The floors in the bedroom and bathroom had not been cleaned, nor had the hand basin in the bathroom. The receptionist was very helpful when I reported this and assured me that it would be dealt with. While it appeared that the room had been attended to, any cleaning done was cursory.

We had a room that was very basic compared with our single accompanied traveller who paid ÂŁ10 more but had an en suite shower with bedside light and coffee.
