Cheerful 1BD Cottage with Parking Nr Guildford

The property was great, had everything you needed in a lovely setting.

We arrived to the place being cold with the heating off, a dirty fridge, dirty dish cloths, a dishwasher that clearly needed some TLC with lack of rinse aid and salt therefore not cleaning that well. We had no response to a request to ask for these issues to be fixed and no new dish cloths. You are expected to strip the bed on leaving, which is a bit of a cheek when a large chuck of the cost is a cleaning payment but with the threat of the £300 security deposit you dare not do as instructed! Following our stay it took a month for a response to my comments with a very small gesture payment offered for the inconvenience.

Locatie was dichtbij familie. Het huisje was goed bereikbaar en toegankelijk. Prima voor een kort verblijf.

Het huisje wordt helaas niet professioneel schoongemaakt, maar dienen gasten na verblijf zelf te doen. Hierdoor wordt alles oppervlakkig schoongemaakt. Gezien de hoge verblijfskosten valt dit wel tegen en zou je verwachten dat er professioneel schoonmaak is.

The bed was comfortable and there was everything I needed in the kitchen.

There wasn't really anything

I had incorrectly booked the wrong dates foe my stay at this property which was a non refunderable booking with no option to alter or cancel. I contacted Hotels.com whpbafter speaking with the owners arranged my booking to be moved to the actual dates i required free of charge. The owners were under no obligation to do this but still allowed it without chargine me. I am very greatful for this as it was my error in the first place. On arriving at thw properrt i was blown away by the standard of it. It was more than £300 cheaper rhan than the closest hotel for the period of my booking and the accomodation was excellent. It is situatued on am amzing site and i thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I would highly recommend tgis properrty to anyone.

The location was very convenient for what I wanted. Bed was comfortable. Cottage generally clean. Wifi worked well for duration of stay.

On paper it looked very promising, so booked and then... One very long message of all your Do's and many Don'ts! Very officious tone and then the need of a £300 deposit. It did not give a welcoming feeling. Then you find out when you arrive, you are actually next to a feed supplier with the dulcet tones of fork lift trucks and large transport wagons. There was also a morning when a neighbour ran their car engine for nearly an hour with the engine fumes and noise coming through to the cottage. No Welcome pack about the area. More instructions about not taking keys with you & remember - strip the beds and clean all appliances! Welcome to Cheerful Cottage! I had to clean the fridge before I put anything in, as there were stains and marks in it. Then, the coffee is so old it is solid in the jar. The sugar has so many 'added extras' you don't want to open the jar! Bathroom door does not fit the frame - too small. Glad I was on my own. The same with all the curtains - too small so light floods in from 5am! No need for an alarm clock! You DO NOT have a TV unless you have a Smart TV at home. If you don't, well, no TV. I did ask more than once, what were the T's & C's as regards 'damage'. I never had a reply. I also had to nag about had I left the cottage without damage and would I be getting my deposit back. Eventually I got a 'yes'! It shouldn't be this difficult. This is so unusual for me to leave so much negative feedback. I had the feeling that although I might be a paying guest you weren't really that welcome. Cheerful Cottage. Is this ironic?
