Alva Hotel

Bed and bathroom not sufficiently cleaned as I found body hairs in both. This is a self-service hotel, so no staff is on-site. If you have selected pay on arrival, beware that you must first submit payment via a secure pay link they will provide before your access code will work to get you into the building. I would have liked to have known this before arriving and standing in the cold trying the access code dozens of times...

The stay was amazing! Room is spacious with a comfortable clean bed, kitchen big enough for cooking, the huge bathtub was amazing perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. We arrived early and they were nice to let us check in at 9am. They email you a code and use that to go in the hotel as well as your room. There is no one in the front desk but that’s ok we knew that coming in. Communication with the staff was through email and was fast responses. This is more like apartments studio style very futuristic too. Location is good walking distance to center of Reykjavik and the closest Bonus grocery store is on skipholt which is a 10 minute walk. We love being active so we never mind the walking. They will clean your room when you request it. There’s fresh fruit on the table and you can grab more from the hallway. If you plan to go to the sky lagoon is walking distance as well if you feel like it 40 min walk otherwise taxi is 30 dollars each way. We had an amazing stay here and would do it again! Thanks Alva!

It was a very nice stay. Would definitely recommend this place. It was clean, safe and very modern. There was No staff onsite, However instructions were easy to follow.

Simple, modern, clean and easy to access. Excellent value, and on the East of Reykjavik so easy to drive from. 3 minutes from the nearest pool which is also amazing

Newer hotel located, about 2 miles from downtown Reykjavik and the Cathedral. Rooms were large and clean, the beds comfortable.

Was a wonderful stay. Very clean, and updated accommodations. The hotel did not have onsite staff at the time oof my stay, however instructions were easy to follow and we felt very safe.

Loved the all electronic check in and out process. Usual confusion about email to check in as other reviewers mentioned. Location is great. Only issue was a water dripping sound that bothered us all night. I did complain next day but we had checked out.

I liked this hotel it was small but cozy and the the cleaners do a great job. It was pretty close to downtown so it was easy to go sight seeing. The keypads though were pretty finicky it took some time to get used to it. Also, my room was above the back entrance of the restaurant downstairs.there was a night like 10pm they were offloading supplies and making a huge racket. But i definitely would recommend it. The decor was amazing too.

Did not stay. I contacted the property and the person on the phone was very rude. I have been going through chemo and anyone that has had chemo knows you develop chemo brain that makes you very forgetful. I did not think about the time change from the U.S. to Iceland when booking and I called to try to change my reservation. The man on the phone spoke as though he just could not believe I would make such a mistake. He would not let me change my reservation. This was my first interaction with Icelandic people and it was not a good first impression. It made me think all of them are unfriendly. I'm glad to know now that it was just the hotel employee.
