Nice kitchen with many supplies. Didn't like the fact that there was no real sugar, just the fake stuff. Also, a family checked in our first night at 10:30, with noisy kids. The same family came in at 11:30 the next night and also made noise. Supposed to be quiet time between 10 pm and 7 am. They shouldn't let people come in that late.

"Lucked into this gem of a hotel. Outstanding stay!"

10.0

We went to Ft Davis and were planning on staying in Alpine but due to the time zone change we forgot to account for were too tired to make the drive. Saw the sign for this place and lucked into getting a room exceptionally last minute. (Like calling while we’re in the parking lot last minute.). We couldn’t believe the place! We like to cook and this has a communal kitchen with amazing facilities. Was so welcoming and homey, much better than a room with a kitchen cause the food smells don’t get into the bedding. Wish more places were like this. The room we stayed in was super comfortable. The bed was nice and the linens, towels, etc. were all high quality. Our room had a little sunny table for breakfast to eat at. We got to see some of the unoccupied rooms and they were all decorated differently and all modern looking and very welcoming. The room and facilities we stayed in was very comfortable. The view from the place of the mountain is also very nice. Lots of wildlife. We’re planning another trip through that area and will definitely be staying here again. The hostess was also very happy and helpful. Many thoughtful and appreciated niceties were also included, like water in the communal fridge. Little baskets for anything you wanted to put in the fridge, oatmeal and some other goodies for breakfast. Eggs and toast available for you to make, fresh produce as well. Coffee there as well as in your room. Just felt like we were visiting family who thought of and provided absolutely everything. Just FYI: not a ton of restaurants in Ft Davis itself, but Alpine really isn’t all that far either.

"Great lodging in Fort Davis"

10.0

My stay at Mountainside Inn was a joy from start to finish. I was there for a night to go to a Star Party at McDonald's Observatory. Jennifer booked my room over the phone, was terrifically helpful before and throughout my stay, and was kind to give me an extension on the checkout time. The Inn is located against a majestic rock face and the interior is clean and well laid out. Each room is unique, and I stayed in Room 4, which had a convenient access through the side entrance. The bed and bedcovers were VERY cozy on a very cold night and the bathroom was clean, modern, and inviting. Before bedtime, I did wish there was a way to turn up the heat but I did not see any controls. However, under the covers it was quite comfortable. The main feature I loved here was the community kitchen. Anyone staying at the lodge could make use of the full kitchen and the stocked fridge and pantry: eggs, milk, cheese, tomatoes, water bottles and many many essential pantry goods to make or heat your own meals (lots of lentils, rice, oatmeal, ready made soups, including veggie ones) There is even a waffle maker but you would have to make/bring your own batter (plenty of flour and eggs, though). Jennifer also gave recommendations for hikes including at Davis Mountains State Park (longer hikes) and at the very peaceful and noteworthy Chihuahua Desert Nature Center about 5 miles away, which I would not have known about, had she not mentioned it. I will stay there again if I return to the area.
