Elluk East Studios

We were a group of nine people and finding a place that could accommodate us was complicated. This place had a 5 Brd house and another 2 Brd close to that... so that is why I predominately chose it!

There were cockroaches in the bathrooms, mouse poo on the pillows and in the draws. The main A/C unit in the living space did not work and many of the doors, including bathroom doors, did not function properly. This is not a 1st world nation, so I am simply stating facts for you to choose.

Solide Unterkunft. Großes Apartment, schöner Pool, Amlage gepflegt. Gutes Preis Leistungsverhältnis. Lage etwas abseits, aber Port Vila Downtown gut zu erreichen (auch mit den öffentlichen Bussen). Ausstattung der Küche leider nicht optimal (der Herd war defekt).

Loved having our own space for a while within our 3 month trip in the Pacific. Great if you like cooking for yourself after a visit to the local market. Bed was clean and had everything we needed. Staff on site were super friendly and helpful. The manager/receptionist however was stand-offish and reluctant to help without making us feel like we were putting her out.

There were lots of little broken things in the studio which could have been fixed with some simple maintenance e.g. tiling in the shower, towel rail coming off wall, lamps not working, oven smells like gas which is worrying. We informed the staff of the oven as it also kept tripping the power to our studio, we asked if someone could come and take a look at it as all the on site staff could do to help was reset the fuse but no one did (studio 6 if anyone else has the same issue). Also make sure you aren't charged the 3% card fee if paying cash, check your confirmation.

I arrived on a Sunday. - they advertise an airport shuttle - but was told that it doesn’t run on Sundays ? Told me I should get a bus or cab - where is the bus? Which one? I didn’t get any more info so ended up paying 3000 for a taxi whereas the bus was 150…… - I waited at reception 30min, going around calling “hello?” but nobody was there - When somebody finally arrived, it was 2 of them and none of them was being familiar with the check in process (took 45 more minutes !!), the lady didn’t know if I had paid my booking already or still had to pay, didn’t even know how to insert a bank card in the bank card reader !!!!!! (Not the staff’s fault in my own opinion - it is a management issue for not training their staff appropriately) - They say they have a restaurant, forget to tell you that it’s closed on Sundays, I asked for recs nearby they were just randomly waiving in the air about some nearby restaurant (good that there are very very close so I didn’t get lost because I didn’t even get a name?!) - After 1h30 with them trying to check me in, they struggled to find the key of my room, led me to my room then realized they had the wrong key…….. - They forgot to give me the WiFi password so came back with it - Check out was the same struggle: had let them know that I would check out early in the morning, when I got to the office to get my deposit back there was no one. When the lady came she didn’t know how to release my deposit, manager/owner was not responsive or reachable…… seriously. It took 45min so I ended up leaving without the deposit because I was about to miss my flight. (Deposit was then returned on my bank account the same day - so why not tell the staff to say that to the guests?) - Room was clean ok; some stains on blanket and kitchen counter, dead insects behinds bed tables, soap in the shower was a used one, soap dispenser was empty - Advertise a toaster, there is none - TV doesn’t work!!!!!!!

Reasonable setup. Convenient if you need to stay for a while and setup your systems. I'm 50/50 on staying there again but my recollection, 1 week later, is that I possibly would if nothing else was available. Good carparking.

Not super clean, and daily room cleaning was highly variable. Plus I had a gas leak in my room which luckily I detected, because otherwise it would have been fatal- as the stove was off but somehow it was still leaking in the room. I changed rooms.

Right next door (less then a minute away) was Cafe Vila with great breakfasts, good pizza and seafood lunches, fab happy hour cocktail, and fun dinners in the hotel restaurant. The staff organised a good rate on a rental car and had it waiting for me, though when I stayed last time I took short stroll and caught the bus into town (only 10 minutes journey). The (newly added) villa I stayed in this time was very spacious, had great hotel water, everything I possibly needed and was so comfortable.

I could not fault this lovely small resort for another relaxing stay in Vanuatu.
