Hotel Doña Alicia

Very nice centrally located hotel in upper middle class neighborhood great dining options close by and staff extremely accommodating and courteous delicious breakfast buffet as well!!!

The beds are too hard

Bonito y decorado hermosamente, pero muy ruidoso, se escucha el ruido de otros huéspedes y te piden q bajes a mover el auto si tiene q entrar o salir con quien compartes cajón.

The hotel is not new it’s an older hotel. Everything is pretty old but the price is also pretty good. I really enjoyed staying here because the staff was so nice. Service was excellent. The front desk lady was so helpful and nice. It is about 15 min from the center but you can walk to the Main Street and get public transportation or a taxi.

BOOK ELSEWHERE - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! I booked a room at Hotel Posada Dona Alicia on February 13, 2024 for our stay in Oaxaca (Oct. 30 to Nov. 4) through Expedia.com. A week before our trip, on October 21, 2024, I received a call from a manager at Hotel Posada Dona Alicia who advised me that they did not have a room for me during a portion of our stay. He said that he had a room for us on Oct. 30, Nov. 2, and Nov. 3, but not for October 31 or November 1. He assured me that he would find us a comparable room for the 2 nights that he was unable to accommodate us at Hotel Posada Dona Alicia. Because this is during the "Day of the Dead" festivities in Oaxaca, there was little to no availability elsewhere a week before. So, I felt I had no choice but to go along with the manager's offer. The manager then asked me cancel my reservation on Expedia.com. I called Expedia.com to alert them as to what was going on and they told me not to cancel my reservation because that was the only thing guaranteeing me a room. I told the manager that I would not cancel my reservation. He said that was fine, and assured me that he had another room for us. My husband and I arrived in Oaxaca on October 30, 2024, and stayed our first night at the Hotel Posada Dona Alicia as planned. The next morning, the manager provided a taxi for us to move a few blocks away to another "hotel". The other "hotel" was more like a person's house, than a hotel. The room was horrible! The towels didn't match (see pic), the bedding didn't match (see pic), the place was not very clean, the bathroom was gross (see pics). To make matters worse, we didn't even have hot water and there was minimal water pressure. There are bars on the windows (see pic), and a locked gate at the entrance (see pic). If there was a fire, there is no exit route! This place is not only dirty, it is dangerous. The next day, by some miracle, I found another, much nicer, place to stay. After being treated as we were by the management at Hotel Posada Dona Alicia, we did not return to that hotel for the remainder of our stay.
