SCP Mendocino Inn and Farm

Lovely property, slowly being updated, but still a charming, peaceful estate. There are llamas, chickens, walking paths, and EV charging stations. Breakfasts were provided, tasty and brought to the room. Chocolate chip cookies at night! There are "shared" kitchinettes for guests to use for refrigerating picnic food and saving leftovers. There is an onsite restaurant that is very reasonable for the area.

This is a really really great option for someone who has stayed in two star motels, however if you haven’t I think there are better options: Good items: direct access to highway 1, bedding is good, the property grounds are pretty Bad: service is non existent, make sure to get to property by 5 pm because the front desk person leaves at that time. They also don’t clean your room while you stay several days and give you an emergency number for “real” that no one answered and no one monitored. And if you returned to motel after 5 pm you request will need to wait until tomorrow. Breakfast is brought to you in a black van from Oregon with some sketchy hygiene and since we saw it unloading we made a health conscious decision not to participate in breakfast. The soundproofing is terrible so if you neighbors do “staff” you will have front row seats.

We visited on New Year's Eve so suspect they were short staffed due to this. Cups were all dirty and hot water barely lukewarm in lobby. We were told our fireplace was not working and wanted a room with a working fireplace. Turns out there were two rooms without working fireplaces. Parking spots had names on them and could not see them in the dark. They could use signage outside to trails, restaurants, lamas, and to extra parking. Pizza and salad were really excellent but unless one read the reviews I am not sure how one would know there was even a restaurant. Room had several ant traps in it, was a little lacking in warmth, but bedding very comfy.

Overrated destination. While it's a charming farm/inn, it comes with the typical limitations of such a setup but at full price. Despite some thoughtful details, it falls short of basic expectations for a 4-star accommodation, lacking amenities like a proper restaurant/bar, reliable Wi-Fi, and offering only a fixed average breakfast. You can fully enjoy the Mendocino area without staying here.

To start the property is spectacular. It is located on a beautiful farm. The rooms are beautiful and well supplied. They have a fireplace that is all laid out and ready to go. The breakfast is incredible!! The staff is friendly and accommodating. Love the sustainability.
