Host & Stay - The Townhouse

The house itself was lovely. Great layout,, and in a cracking location

The property was not properly cleaned, with dog poo on the outside decking, dirty carpets along side the sofa and dirty plasters in the upstairs bedroom. We had to sign a waiver before checking in to say we would pay up to £500 for any breakages in this property. I was therefore very careful to take pictures of everything when we first checked in and flagged issues that we seen on day one. Unfortunately, the stay was completely overshadowed by a major issue with the fridge freezer and a totally inadequate response from the management company, Host & Stay. I booked The Town House in Scarborough through Booking.com, but it’s managed by Host & Stay. Timeline of events: Wednesday 16 July (late evening): We discovered the fridge freezer had stopped working. Frozen food had defrosted and the fridge was no longer cold. Thursday 17 July (morning): I reported the fault first thing via Booking.com, email and direct phone call. I followed up repeatedly during the day. No technician was sent, even though we were asked to keep the keys in the key safe for the technician. Friday 18 July (4.30pm): After more chasing via phone and email, a technician finally arrived. He incorrectly diagnosed the issue as the appliance being in "holiday mode.", even though this wasn't. Host & Stay later admitted the unit was faulty and needed replacing. Saturday and Sunday: No replacement was offered. I was told to use a wine cooler that did not exist, and later just advised to keep using the broken fridge. I asked for a manager to call me back on four separate occasions. Not one call came. Saturday: I was told another engineer had been arranged by the owner. That person never turned up either. Sunday evening: I again asked for a manager to call me on Monday morning before checkout. No call was received. The end result was that ten people had no working fridge or freezer for five days.

Close to the beach and town centre

The house is very spacious

Outside of the property could do with freshening up a bit.

The size is lovley and the heating and showers was good

Needs a good clean dog hairs everywhere and oven wasn’t clean and sofas dirty outside patio furniture broke and cobwebs in several rooms and one car park pass for 10 people

Cleaning let the property down - alot of dust around - in places drinks been spilt hit walls and not been wiped up- we didn't go to cook but would not have used the cooker needs a good clean - highchair was disgusting not been cleaned for awhile- alot of dog hair on carpets our 9 month old crawler was covered just from being on living room floor - nothing get cleaned behind or under as things under sofa and socks under bed. Would be exceptional property if cleaning was upto standards unfortunately for us cleaning let it down.

No curtains in living room.

Location is excellent with all local amenities nearby. The property is really well proportioned, with plenty of space for 10 adults. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean

No negatives at all

Nice size, comfortable, showers were excellent, slept fine (and that's from a very fussy sleeper)

No curtains or blinds in the front room meant people could easily see in during the evening, and the kids toys on site could really do with a refresh.
