Host was really friendly and greeted us on arrival. Hot tub was lovely and we liked how spacious it was. The little field outside with the horses and sheep was a lovely touch for the kids and the washing machine was a bonus.

Could do with a deep clean throughout and the kitchen cupboards need a good going through. I think extra toilet roll would have been ideal to have as we didn’t think we will need to bring our own. Also there seems to have been issues with the doors for a long time going off previous reviews over the years. There’s certain doors you can’t open or close and the spindles on the decking also need replacing especially when you have kids running round. Mattresses are a little uncomfortable.

The whole Lodge was furnished very well, fabulous layout and size. The hot tub was a great addition. Nice and peaceful but close enough to York to get there quickly.

Doors were an issue in 2 rooms, but we spoke to the owner and she was getting it sorted. Locks on the Jack and Jill bathroom would have been good to preserve modesty!

The lodge is certainly beautiful. We were lucky with the weather and we honestly felt as though we were on The Serengeti! Looking out over the veranda we could just imagine wild animals wandering. It is very spacious with plenty of room for eight people. The beds were clean and comfortable. A beautiful setting and handy for Pocklington - which is lovely - with easy access to York. Christine was lovely and extremely attentive.

There were maintenance issues which had been mentioned in reviews and in the visitor book but were still outstanding. Namely the doors which were a major issue. There are a lot of exterior doors which don’t work well. We couldn’t use the door from the master bedroom which was a shame. Although the lodge was generally well presented - eg the wooden floor was literally shining, there was no facility for us to maintain this as there was no sweeping brush or dustpan or vacuum. For a lodge of such high standard the kitchen was a bit of a mish mosh in the drawers - no order- and there weren’t enough glasses. There were some cleaning issues which we had to address. Soap in the bathrooms would also be welcome. And we feel that the lodge would benefit from a better WiFi set up. None of the above would put us off going again as the good outweighs the issues. It is a lovely, pleasant, restful holiday home.

It was a beautiful lodge, really spacious, the area was beautiful and the horses in the field facing the lodge… ADORABLE! Super friendly! The lodge was decorated beautifully, the outside area was perfect for relaxing with family. And the host was really helpful. Slight problem with internet connection and it was resolved immediately.
