"Perfect for Civil War buffs on pilgrimage!"

8.0

It’s a beautiful old historical inn and in a strategic Civil War location. It’s beautifully fit out and very comfortable.

The plumbing. The sink didn’t drain and the shower needs redoing. Breakfast was mediocre and pretty meager, given the price.

"Take a Bath While you Sleep. Drips on my head on my bed. Room 1."

2.0

While it is a great historic building with nice furnishings, more attention needs to be taken so residents stay safe from the leaking ceiling. True, there was a heavy rain, but I woke up to drips of water hitting my head. I took a picture of where the drops hit the headboard. Also, the ceiling on the other side looked unsafe. At about 11:40 p.m. a loud bang on my door followed by someone trying to open my door. I ended up screaming "NO". I think it was an intoxicated patron who spent time at the Barn (Bar) behind the property and could not find their room. I could not sleep well in that room and was ticking the time to daylight to scram. The morning help was very pleasant and gave me a "To Go" food bag with scrambled eggs, fruit, nuts, yogurt and juice. It was enough. Take your own coffee if you want a good bit of caffeine. The tub was great with a jacuzzi. The room was spacious. If you are a single woman, it is better to stay at a bed and breakfast inn with the proprietor nearby. The wine bar next door had good espresso, brownies and food in general. Beware, credit card companies are not easy to work with for a refund or even a partial refund anymore. TAKE your MONEY elsewhere. Berkeley Springs is a town nearby that doesn't have a lack of parking or regular shuttle rides up and down the hill. The step road to the bottom is a killer. If you are biking the pedestrian bridge has steps where you have to carry your bike. This is a day trip kind of place. Also, my husband was trying to reach me on a dead cell zone and the lady who answered did not try to see if I was safe in my room and so he had a sleepless night too. Alternate title, "SLEEPLESS IN HARPER'S FERRY'.

This is a beautiful property with interesting history. The room was comfortable. The innkeepers are very gracious and helpful. While not located in the heart of the historic district, it’s a short walk away. Quite honestly, it’s better than being in the heart anyway - more quiet and easier parking. There is a fantastic bar just behind the house, and Snallygasters (best restaurant in town) is next door.

Loved the room, the entire Inn was beautiful. The second night we stayed there were fiddle players downstairs which seemed to fit.

Great location for the National Park, a wonderful home cooked breakfast and a nice historical inn - Robert E Lee's father lived there. Also had a nice dinner at the restaurant next door - great food and ambiance.

The bed in our room will hopefully be replaced.
