El Pequeño Hotel

El Pequeno Hotel was a magical place. The gardens resplendent with native trees and flowers, and hanging orchids, were enchanting. Joaquin was a lovely host. He made us feel so welcome and comfortable. The house and all its places - balconies, sunrooms - from which one could watch birds or sunsets with windows and doors wide open and warm breezes flowing through - was spacious. The pool was lovely and refreshing for a late afternoon swim after a day of exploring El Yunque. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances, cutlery, dishes, and we felt perfectly at home making coffee in the morning or preparing a cheese board for dinner. We hope to return!

Joaquín the host, is so knowledgeable and has created a landscaped paradise. He’s interesting to talk to.

While not far from El Yunque entrance, the hilltop location makes it inconvenient —must bring your own food and drink because even though it’s not far from the town of Canóvanas it’s not a place you want to come and go from at night. The grounds are gorgeous but the rooms are spartan, more like a dorm room with a nice private bath.

Well maintained areas and lush gardens everywhere are amazing plus! The tranquility of the location and the natural surroundings are incomparable!

No courtesy bottle water available or at least for purchase.

I loved the tranquility whilst also being accessible to beaches, el yunque and any amenities you can want! The decor is fabulous and the owner is extremely knowledgeable about Puerto Rico and its history. Not to mention Pepe the dog 😊

Really a very quiet place. The very beautiful spaces are accompanied by the beautiful view of the nature that surrounds it. Everything is very clean and with spaces to connect and share as a couple or family. It met my expectations and I recommend it. The Host Joaquín and his big dog Pepe were very friendly. We hope to visit you soon.

Can’t say enough how beautiful this property was. The pictures don’t even come close! The pool was perfect, the gardens full of life and color, the views spectacular. Our host was absolutely delightful and I can only hope to stay here again on my next trip out! Super comfortable beds, lovely and clean rooms, all the details that have gone into making this place magical is over and beyond my expectations! Definitely stay. Rent the car and go!

if you’re looking for repose in the edge of the forest, this is perfect. The sounds, sites and luscious floral smalls of the rainforest are all right and hand. and Joquin, the hotel owner, is the perfect host: widely informed and broadly interested, he’s a great pleasure to speak to about Puerto Rico and its history and culture.
