El Pequeño Hotel

We loved our stay at El Pequeno Hotel. Joaquin, the host and owner, made us feel at home immediately, and since we came without a car on our first day, he helped us to get sorted with food and transport in the meantime before picking up our car rental the following day. It's clear that Joaquin puts a tremendous amount of love and care into his hotel and his guest's needs. The gardens on the grounds are welcoming and gorgeous, and are designed by Joaquin himself. During our stay we were able to chat a bit with Joaquin about various topics, and it was through those conversations that Puerto Rico came to life for us. He and his hotel embody the Puerto Rican tagline, 'La Isla del Encanto.' Highly recommend and would not hesitate to return.

absolutely beautiful, the view was extraordinary and private.The owner Joaquin a beautiful soul, his hospitality and charisma is out of this world. To cap it up all he’s very caring. we bonded and he became a friend.

At least one meal a day especially breakfast would be a “game changer”

Joaquin (owner) is a landscape architect, and the detailed gardens and structures are beautiful. He's a real nice and interesting host as well. Don't miss this gem!

We could not find the hotel although we tried for more than an hour while driving up and down steep, narrow roads. There was no sign for El Pequeno Hotel and we also asked neighbors near the location shown on our digital map. One neighbor said it was the location marked with a sign that said Escondido Gardens Studios, but there was a locked gate leading to that property with no way for us to open it or contact anyone. Nobody answered our several calls to the hotel phone number. We tried three times to find the hotel on the very steep and twisting roads. The scenery was beautiful but our car overheated from climbing the hills. Our car recovered but we gave up after our third try that took us to the same spot. No hotel entrance or sign was visible near the location shown on our map, only residential homes and the Escondido Gardens sign and locked gate:( We spent three hours in the car while it rained on and off looking for other nearby hotels, but none were available because it was a holiday weekend. This was my worst reservation experience ever. Expedia has been understanding but the hotel still is invoicing me for one night. We would have gladly stayed for the two nights we booked if we could have found the hotel.

The host was a very friendly and welcoming person. He did an amazing job with the space and I look forward to coming back again.
