Confortable, yet a good value for money

Like a number of guesthouses in Iceland, this is a former educational boarding facility. It is in the middle of nowhere, but the view is amazing, it is clean, the other occupants were pleasant and there were plenty of bathrooms and showers. Food is close by in Mossfellsbaer and the kitchen facilities were good. Lots of parking.

Smelled, walls were very thin

Location is out of civilization with nothing around it.There is not any kind of transportation except taxi which coasts you arm and legs.

Clean and has everything we need

Heads up - this is a converted retirement home and it’s kind of obvious based on the layout and how wiring is done & emergency call buttons on the wall. It’s at the end of an Industrial road - the last km to the hotel is a little rough but I had no problem taking it easy with a Yaris. Even though you pass through an Industrial area to get there - the area where the hotel is located is quite beautiful and peaceful and I enjoyed this compared to staying in Reykjavik. The kitchen is a good size and is well stocked with tea, coffee and some basics. It’s In it’s own room behind a door so you can use it during off hours without disturbing other guests. (Unfortunately someone cooked fish or some strong cheese in it - so it could have smelled fresher but there is a door you can open for ventilation) My email with check in instructions didn’t make it to my hotmail account but after emailing I didn’t receive it - they called me with the details. It’s easy to hear noise from the hall - so bring earbuds if you’re sensitive to this. Overall I’d recommend unless you’re freaked out by hospitals/medical facilities. If you are - this is not the place for you.
