Esquipulas Rainforest

The location and overall vibe of the hotel was very cool. It's in the rainforest and they prioritize bird watching. This is truly a unique place to stay.

Given that the rooms are essentially a tent, the bathroom is not in your room and you will have to walk to the bathroom facilities. Furthermore, there is no potential for cooking or cleaning anything in your tent.

I stayed in one of the little bungalows. It had the luxuries of electricity for a light and fan, a comfortable bed, & nothing more to detract from the experience of being in the midst of a rain forest. I considered it ideal. Very snug listening to booming thunder & watching the torrential rains during an afternoon storm. There’s a trail that leads to a small secluded pool fed by a cascading waterfall that can double as a cool and refreshing jacuzzi.

There is not much to dislike about this place & the following is not a complaint but just something unexpected that is actually a positive: The food is simple Costa Rican fare but perfectly prepared. The proportions are comparatively small, which informed me that I’ve become habituated to borderline gluttony. I begrudgingly accept it as a positive.

A great, peaceful retreat for oneself but with an added bonus of plenty of birds (toucans, hummingbirds, euphonias, etc.). If you are a bird enthusiast, I shall highly recommend. Great view of the mountains and sunrise. Staff were particularly helpful with knowledge of birds but also accomodating to our requests and treated the accomodation as their home (unlike hotel chains).

would be nice that the bar would have been open till later (for us was out off the season so we were the only guests). In the small cottages would be nice to have insect net at the entrance to enjoy the view/sleep in the night breeze. We couldnt find an internet connection, but we actually appreciated it.

Good food, great cabins, lovely way to get back to nature with some added luxury like a good bed and shower

It was a most interesting place to visit and stay. The scenery, nature, birds, flowers--it was all a WOW experience. I loved it and so relaxing. Also, meeting the other people who stayed there was fun and we learned about the waterfalls and hikes nearby. The breakfast and dining hall was a great meeting place. We chose to come back each night and ate there as well as breakfast. The food was fresh and really good. The manager, Giselle, was so helpful and welcoming. Anyone who loves birds should plan a visit here and to hike the property. The nearby waterfalls are lovely and refreshing. We especially liked that it wasn't over crowded and a privately owned estate. We didn't see the owner's coffee farm, but bought some to take home. We got to enjoy the local coffee for breakfast.

Not sure I have any complaints. I enjoyed our stay and would go back.
