Esquipulas Rainforest

Absolutely unique and amazing place! I can only highly recommend. Great for watching hummingbirds and toucans, delicious meals, very kind and smiling people. You can choose usual shower or open one with forest view. And the view from the longe…!

What an absolutely amazing place, out of all our travels this might be our all-time favorite. The cabins are lovely and the view in the morning is amazing. The entire location is just gorgeous. I was pleasantly surprised by the bathroom and the showers, the water was always warm and relatively insect-free. In fact, there aren't many bugs there at all. The food was quite good, it's mostly the typical Costa Rican food but I'm sure if you ask, they could make something else for you. It's a fantastic place for birdwatching, whether you are a serious birder or not. Some normally pretty rare birds are easily found there. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the birds. You can go on a free coffee tour if you're staying there. We also had a lot of fun walking the trails and often tagged along with the birding tour that takes place every morning. However, you can also spend all days sitting in the little restaurant area and watch the hummingbirds, toucans, aracaris, tanagers and other birds at the feeders.

Nothing. There is no WiFi but that won't matter when you're here.

Our stay in the quadruple room with a Mountain View at Esquipulas was an idyllic retreat, offering the serenity and beauty of a chalet-like setting. The room itself was well-equipped, featuring a kitchen complete with coffee and a coffeemaker that allowed us to enjoy delicious local coffee each morning. The seating area and large patio with a hammock provided the perfect spots for relaxation and taking in the stunning mountain views. The peacefulness was further enhanced by the soothing sounds of a nearby waterfall and the diverse birdlife, making it an ideal spot for bird watching and embracing the natural environment. The staff’s super helpful and supportive nature, along with their sensitivity to dietary requirements, ensured our stay was both comfortable and enjoyable.

It’s hard to find fault in a place that so perfectly encapsulated the peaceful, off-the-grid experience we were seeking. The lack of phone or internet connection, far from being a negative, contributed to the tranquil and undisturbed atmosphere that defined our stay.

The view from the tipi in the morning is amazing and the flair overall is awesome. You are very close to nature and a bit away from civilization - so it’s very calm and you can listen to the nature. One of the most amazing things was the breakfast where you could watch many many different birds on the feeding station - we saw more birds here than in any guided tour

Some parts of the facilities could have been cleaner

beautiful place in the nature. best place for birdwatching. also we enjoyed the 5km trail included.

only the road to get there is not easy without 4x4 wheeler.

The very high bill for dinners. We didn't ask how much dinner was, assuming it would be reasonable, but it ended up over $220 for 4 dinners (2 evenings for 2 people) and 7 beers!!!!! So please ask the price first to be mentally prepared or bring your own food. Costa Rica is expensive, but even highly rated restaurants never cost us more than $30 per person, not $55

The staff at the Esquipulas Rainforest couldn't have been nicer. They went out of their way to take care of us. They were super friendly and went out of their way to make sure that we had a good stay. I would highly recommend the Esquipulas Rainforest. It is a gorgeous property. They have renovated everything recently. Everything is clean, functional, and organized.

I didn't like leaving.

wonderful place. I loved watching toucans during breakfast. nice teeepees. all clean and fresh. view from the shower to the forest. Location above the river. very nice people. I wish them much more happy visitors. This place deserve it. Thank you for having us
