Hostal Timara

We loved the service and friendliness of Alex and his family. His father was coming to visit him from Quito, so he gave us a ride in his car from the airport in Quito all the way to Banos (a 4-hour drive). It was VERY MUCH appreciated, even if an airport shuttle was listed as a service that the hostel provided. The room was cute and simple (one table/two chairs, as well as a night table and small rack on which to hang clothes), the shower was functional (hot water!!) and drained pretty well. The bed was comfy. We especially loved the courtyard and flowers near our room, as well as the colourful mozaïc on the front of the building. The location was outstanding, just a block away from downtown Banos. Thank you Alex for such a memorable stay in your hostel!

It's not something we disliked, but a few hooks in the walls of the room or the bathroom might be useful... All in all, this was a great spot to stay in Banos!

Really friendly staff, big thank you to Alex! Nice little kitchen and common seating area. Overall relaxed and quiet. Great location for exploring town.

Our first room didn't have a window but the people were very nice and changed our room!

The place was clean, in a nice location, rooms was comfortable and with lot of light! For the price is great. The kitchen as well is well furnished and spacious. I really recommend this place!

I stayed only one night - but everything is as per description. Owner and the family are really very nice . I was worried about the rain and biking to the cascades in the rain - but Alex reassured me it’s going to be fantastic and it was . They do not speak English, but tried their best to explain everything . It’s at the end of the busy road , but still within the centre - it’s like 5 mins walk to bus station and all restaurants and everything is within 2 mins walk . There is a cute and small patio where people can hangout

Private room with shower, comfortable beds, adequate kitchen facilities. Staff were very helpful and accommodating . Location was very central.

Nice hostel with great staff

The staff were friendly. The linen, towels, and bathroom were all kept clean. Also, the location was good, in town but not on one of the busy, loud streets.

The wifi was practically non-functional for my entire three-day stay. It was very slow and dropped out constantly. I brought it up with the staff and they said too many people were using it, and that it occurred commonly. They were kind enough to offer me the password for the reception's wifi but the connection was even worse. Although not the fault of the owner's, the property next door had a rooster that started crowing very loudly from 5am every morning, waking me up every day. Water in the showers was at best lukewarm, but generally cold, and although they were kept clean, they had a funny smell. There was only one shower/toilet combo per floor, so there was often a wait to use the bathroom.

A real friendly little hostel. Showers super hot and clean. The kitchen has everything you need and plenty fridge storage. It's family run, home from home. Thank you Don Carlos, Alex and Marco!
