LA MADRIGUERA HOTEL

Guatapé is a beautiful city but we had some issues when it came to the place we stayed at. First the reservation was supposed to include a parking (that was the main reason we went there) but it turns out that they didn’t have one and we had to park our car down the hill with no security and had to bring our luggages up. They did not mention in the application that this service was not available at this time. Second, they had constructions all around and the noises were really loud and annoying at 7am ( it was not really their fault since that’s the city, but they could have at least not given us the room in front of them since the hotel was empty and we saw some vacant rooms further away). Me and my friend also reserved a kind sized bed and we ended up having a double bed with a duvet as a bed sheet, no toilet papers in the bathroom and ONE light. Also, the breakfast was supposed to be open until 9.30am, but they told us it was actually 8:30am. Everything could have been forgotten if when we told the desk lady that they could at least have told us about the parking, she replied that « we should have complained yesterday and go to another place » but we couldn’t because we would have been charged the late cancellation fees. Was definitely not worth the 100$/night price. We tried to ask for a small discount because we paid services that were not given to us. The lady refused! Guatapé is a very beautiful and tourist friendly city though.

We had a wonderful.stay in one of the cabins by the lake.The view from the cabin is breathtaking and is very relaxing and makes up for the basic style of the cabin which was a little bit small. Our cabin had little privacy as the cutains that are hard to close didn't cover the whole window. Sandra was really friendly and welcoming. And the place also offers activities on the lake such as paddleboarding and kajaking.

Place is safe, and clean.

This hotel has the most beautiful location in all of Guatape. The grounds are so beautiful and there are so many nice places to sit to enjoy the view. We stayed in a bungalow and loved it. The view is fabulous. Everyone who works here is so kind and friendly and helpful. We needed help setting us activities and were always helped with a smile. The breakfast is delicious with a fantastic view. We loved everything about this hotel and will definitely be back. It is an easy walk into town, but far enough away to feel secluded and tranquil. If you are considering this hotel, it is absolutely worth it to stay here! There are very reasonable kayaks and stand up paddle boards to rent.

We absolutely loved our stay at La Madriguera, Sandra made us feel at home as soon as we arrived and made sure we always left for the day informed and smiling, such a great host. We stayed in Bunga 1 and it was fantastic, such a beautiful view, private bathroom, balcony and a basic room but with everything you could need. The property is really well kept, the breakfast was fresh and tasty and the little extras like a water and coffee station just add that extra layer of care for guests which is really appreciated. The location is perfect, walking distance to town but far enough away for a good nights sleep. Thank you so much Sandra and team for a great stay, hopefully we will be back one day.

Thank you for the wonderful staff who made our stay in guatape memorable! The room is clean and was accommodating for four girls (bunk beds). They also provide free breakfast which was a plus! But the best part of the hotel was the view! Didn’t disappoint.

Our room is way smaller than it looked at the pictures and was right beside the reception desk, so we heard every conversation outside. Also, its next to a loud neighborhood, at 7:00 we heard heavy construction noise (from outside and inside the hotel). It was a sunday morning so all of this noise was quite annoyings as we wanted to have a nice rest before hitting the road. Its cheap price but not worth it, knowing that theres too many options in the town.

Please be aware of the following if booking one of the bungalows atLa Madriguera. We had booked one of the bungalows offered at La Madriguera for a premium price. We discovered the room contained exactly one bed and one night stand. Nothing else. In the bathroom, there were two towels and two small bars of soap. The towel rack was broken so was difficult to find a place to hang wet towels after a cold shower (there was no hot water). In fact,there was not even a door to the bathroom! Despite using all three blankets available, we were uncomfortably chilly all night. There was no heater and no one on duty to assist. The list of amenities is none. Very little has been done in those bungalows with a guest's comfort or enjoyment in mind. We shortened our stay from three nights to one.
