"Pleasant"

6.0

This place has the potential to be great. The rooms or comfortable. The food from the menus, when we could order off it was amazing. And the people were all very nice, not always effectual, but nice.

This was a party of 7 girlfriends celebrating a significant birthday. We spent 2 day here, before continuing on to 4 more days in the beautiful San Miguel de Allende. Everything just felt like a bait and switch. Nothing that was supposed to be happening happened. All the plans, treatments, amenities, were either non-existent, or not planned, or an underwhelming substitution. This resort could be amazing. A real organizational overhaul needs to be done here to make it what it tries to be. Before going I scheduled 7 massages for our party. I was sent a schedule of said massages, and then told there is one room with 2 massage tables. Ok, we can double up. But there was no massage therapists scheduled, let alone hot stone, or any variety of choices, as the wellness menu said. They found us 2 so-so massuses . Then, even after asking 3 times for a programming schedule , because we wanted to do yoga while there, We never received an email back. But we were able to secure an instructor on short notice who was called in to teach a good class. The food off the menu, which was amazing, was a big draw for us. We were able to order off that menu 2 times. All the rest of our meals were strange buffet style meals. Besides being awkwardly arranged, the food did not match the descriptions. For example, my friend's hamburger, that was supposed to come with manchago cheese and crumbled bacon, was half a carne asada on a bun. The mexican elote, street style, was unadorned out of season corn on the cob. It was disappointing for all, and to me as a professional caterer, it was really unprofessional. When checking out, they got all of our bills wrong, and took for ever to get our bags and get the bills sorted. Upon returning home, I got an automated message from the hotel, trying to charge me another $1,900 for our whole parties, all ready paid individually. The pool is on the neighboring hotels property. This place needs real management and consistency.

The location and property kept surprising me with unusual details like the “playita”was a total surprise. Space to walk and meditate. Great staff front of house staff. Great food. You have essentials including books to remind us to rest and unwind. The staff went over and above expectations.

"Magical Experience"

10.0

Upon arriving we were greeted by Lvette who made our stay magical. She was very kind and explained the property. Escorted us to our room. Made sure we had everything we needed. Was very knowledgeable in all the activities and services at the property. We stayed in a Vista room. The view was breath taking! It was absolutely beautiful. The entire property was stunning. Everything from the rooms, walkways, restaurant. Both dinner and breakfast were fantastic. It was all magical. The playita is a short golf cart ride away and is super pretty. It's worth visiting to see even if not swimming. Thank you Lvette and Our Habitas for a truly magical experience!

"Peaceful, lovely stay - has more potential"

8.0

This hotel has SO much potential. Was really beautiful and peaceful to come here after a few hectic days in Mexico City. The brunch at the weekend was incredible (try to book over a weekend if you can!). The firepit was amazing. So peaceful. And the rooms/cabins with their little terraces were gorgeous. The complementary taxi into town was a nice touch and only took 15 mins or so. Loved the 'beach' area. It was a bit cold when we visited so we didn't use it as much as we'd have liked but the touches were amazing – natural spring fed swimming lake and paddleboards. Awesome. I also LOVED the concierge via WhatsApp. Took the stress out of the trip.

Really recommend having a coffee machine in the room. Tiny touches just improve the whole experience and as jet-lagged travellers, waiting until 8 to get coffee was a bit blerugh. The whole hotel has potential but it feels a bit unfinished. That's noone's fault and it will be amazing when it's finally been built, but I did get a - new homes on a building site vibe to a degree. Plants feel like they were planted yesterday and the small things (remembering to be given cutlery at breakfast etc) just weren't there. Plus, we found someone else's sanitary towels in the pocket of a bathrobe which...suggests cleaning could be improved. Communication with staff was a bit tricky because not everyone spoke English, but that's my problem really for not being better at Spanish.

"Lovely solo trip - highly recommend"

10.0

First time at a Habitas and in SMA. I'm impressed. Think of it as an urban dessert boho vibe. It's a full 10 min taxi drive to the city centre of SMA so take that into account. Ideally, you do a few nights here and then a few in the town center. Here it is more of a resort and less about the culture/town. The property is gigantic. Really gorgeous landscaping and tons and tons of cute little outdoor areas to commune, to sit, eat, etc. I think all the cabins are the same and the category is about placement - I stayed in a Ridge and it was great. Comfortable, clean, spacious. If you want to save a few bucks, just get the entry level and it will still be fine. Went to their Beach Club for a few hours - it's a 10 min walk or they will take you in the cart. Pretty amazing - they don't have a proper pool but the sunbathing spaces are killer and great service. Nice programming daily of some fitness classes, arts workshops, outdoor movies. Now - the best part....THE FOOD. Holy moly. I loved every single bite of every dish I had (eat here for breakfast lunch and dinner and wouuld have done so for a week, it was that good). So flavorful and fresh and well done. Truly, special cuisine. In general, staff were great, friendly and professional and the grounds are pristine. This would be a fun place for a group of friends or family to stay for a few days - lots of gatherings areas. There were a few minor misses but everything else more than made up for it. 1. the yoga instructor never showed up for a class and oddly the front desk also didn't acknowledge this. 2. got lost b/c google maps sends you to a wrong entrance. I received comm about the correct address but it was too late. Also, it seems Habitas will be part of a larger community b/c there's other buildings being constructed on the very large property (including near the "beach" club. I think this is a great thing if they all adopt a similar vibe of Habitas. Thanks!
