Hostal Talavera

* The bed is quite comfortable and big (too big for the room size, if truth be told). * The location is off the beaten tracks but you can be in the centre of the centre in 10 minutes on foot. Some attractions are also closer than that. * The metro-bus line is very close to the hotel, so you can go to the bus terminal easily.

Private room: * Room cleaning is not on par, the floor remains dirty because they keep re-using the same dirty mops (if you spill water on the floor, and step even with clean slippers, you will see the floor is dirty), there was some hair on the floor, a bit on the bed-sheets and pillows, in the bathroom. The toilet is stained although the hostel is but one-year old: not a good sign. * Over the course of six nights, I only got cold water in my room, not freezing cold, but not lukewarm even for sure. * Kitchen: the sponges are dirty and stay in a bucket with food rests. Most of the dishes and mugs are made of melamine (a toxic plastic you shouldn't use especially with warm foods) and coffee-stained. I saw the cleaning lady use the dish sponge to wash the rubbish bin... * The WiFi is super unstable, and slow. I had to use my phone's connexion for calls because of the too many dropouts (even without video). * They offer free breakfast, but you'll only get coffee, some juice and super basic French toast with marmalade. You'll have to eat outside.

Nice size room with TV.

The room wasn't cleaned for the 7 nights we were there. Very noisy hostel with the main road which you could hear in the room and also the noise from people walking up and down the stairs. The breakfast was basic.

New place so not busy when we were there, which made it even better, and we got great prices as well. Comfy big bed, nice rooftop, kitchen and fridge. We enjoyed the location as well - just a little out of center but totally walkable, and close to the metro bus so easy and cheap public transport close by (easy direct ride from CAPU station), and close to the tunnels and teleferico and that beautiful park.

The shower and toilet were leaking, no big deal, but had to put towels not to step in puddles, mostly after a shower.

good location and terrace. Nice big bed.

Shower didn’t really warm up and the en suite toilet door was a very tight squeeze.
