Manor House

The strangest bathroom I have ever seen. The sink was at knee height.The toilet seat didn't fit the toilet and the bathroom floor was quite dirty. The joints between the wall and the bathroom floor were also quite dirty. The mattress in the bed was old and uncomfortable. Would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone.

My room had about a foot on each side of the bed to squeeze past. The walls needed repainting.

We were taken to a completely different hotel - Waterside Hotel a good 50 meters away from the Manor House Hotel. The door to room 1 was opened by the hotel guy who took us to this other 'hotel' and then before we even got into the room fully he left - almost run away. It was Room 1. As per other reviews on here it was absolutely DISGUSTING. Room stank, walls etc dirty bed had stains of all sorts along its sides - did not go near pillows or pull bed sheets bad did not have stomach to do it. I would not let a dog - a stray dog- stay there. My wife and I just left the room walked back up street to manor house hotel and waited to see the guy who led us there. He was not around (no surprise) but the lady came who checked us in. I said we are not staying in that room its disgusting. She said 'ok', took key off me and walked away! Did not look at me and was not in least surprised!.. We had paid via booking.com - we were offered no alternative and really did not to stay full stop Manor House hotel also looked shabby. Booking.com useless money has been taken and now we cant get back the hotel are ignoring the requests and we are left out of pocket. People need to be aware - THIS IS A SCAM HOTEL. They take bookings for the MANOR HOUSE Hotel - knowing they don't have functional rooms or any rooms there - then lead people to am complete dive of a place called Waterside Hotel which is not fit to be called a hotel it is totally disgusting and honestly not fit to stay in. - yet they are getting away with it! Shocking.

We booked a long time in advance and ended up paying a premium rate. It’s an odd hotel and we got a ground floor room right on the pavement. The room was poor. Very dirty - hadn’t been dusted; furniture stained; towels stained. Bathroom dirty too with grime in the corners and around the base of the toilet. The room has blinds rather than curtains so just after 4am you’ll be flooded with light even if they are closed. Poor room fixtures - inaccessible hanging space & only two hangers, nowhere near a mirror to plug in hair dryer. Breakfast limited -(“there was coffee but it’s nearly all gone now”). You choose breakfast when you check in £12.

We booked online last minute called up to say we would arrive in 30 minutes, the staff was very eel and helpful. We was shown to our room then went down for an evening meal, the food was excellent and we was made to feel as part of the family, it is a lovely warm feel place with lovely people and the rooms was amazing the bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful we would highly recommend staying in the Manor and meeting this lovely family it’s one of the best I have ever stayed in.

Lovely room well furnished. No hot water at first but this was soon sorted. Very happy with our stay.

Absolutely filthy upon arrival. The carpets looked as if they’d never been cleaned, each room stank of damp mold, dead flies littered the window sills and there was water damage all over the walls & floors. When we went to complain, it was almost as if they were expecting it, as they immediately offered 50% off (which was still extortionate). I can’t speak to the quality of the Manor House rooms, but it should be illegal for them to be renting rooms in the Waterside house.

The people were lovely. The breeds and pillows were hard. The food in the restaurant (breakfast and dinner) was excellent!

Nice stay

What can I say? This is the grubbiest, dirtiest establishment I have ever stayed in. It is not the building shown in photo as advertised but two buildings along. I asked if there was WiFi and told a password. When I asked what the network was called, the most unhelpful man reiterated the password. There was no WiFi in the room. The bed smelt like musty dog and was dusty. All the furniture has stains of cup marks. It was like a student flat in the 80s except dustier and grubbier. Then there was the noise, initially we thought it was the fan in the toilet making the high pitched screech but it was coming from the hot tap, if we ran the tap it stopped. The windows also are not double glazed, so cars and people walking past can be heard clearly. The bed also squeaks with any movement. It was all so bad we found it funny. The positives - working tv with some channels, a kettle with Tetley teabags (stained mugs to drink from). The shower we got working and we had hot water! I’d give the room an overall 1/10.
