Rura Raya Homestay

Great views from the room to the traditional architecture, rice fields, and mountains. Peaceful location. Helpful hostess. She arranged for a guide for us for three days and arranged a car to take us from the Tana Toraja area to Tentena. The meals, breakfast and dinner, were fantastic! The best banana pancakes!

What a great stay we had! Lady who runs this homestay is so friendly and helpful, she cooks so good, both breakfasts and dinners are delicious, rooms are quite small but clean, bed is comfortable (fresh and clean bedding & towels), owner halped us to ogranize trips (we had a great guide and driver), easy contact via Whatsapp, location is quiet, approx. 3km from Rantepao center which is ok as owner arranged pick up and dropp off to bus station. Quite expensive but still ok for what you get comparing to other homestays. Highly recommanded! :)

the owner helped us to organize a taxi for our 5 days in Sulawesi and a guide. the food was really good. the family of the owner integrated us into their life, it was wonderful 😀

The owner is wonderful: full of energy, efficient, a great cook, and clearly a true professional, trained in Bali, with many years experience. The homestay room and food is more like a hotel than a homestay. (The building common areas are not at the same level as the fabulous rooms, but that's not a problem as they are still better than many homestays.)

The homestay has the style and 'level' of one of the many very good comfortable homestays in Bali: bedsheets, duvet, properly tiled bathroom, etc. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, are 'complete' with generous servings of fish or meat, very well cooked. So it deserves to be more expensive than other simple homestays in the area ... and is about 3x more expensive. But it is also 2x more expensive than some similar homestays we went to in Bali. So, great if you can afford it! (PS. A tuk-tuk to the homestay takes up to 10 mins and we paid 50,000 after dark. Neither the tuk-tuk or taxi driver recognised the name of the homestay as it changed recently.)

Amazing place surrounded by padi field. Great location Away from the busy town but near enough if you need to go to town. It can be hard to find food at night so the half board options were great. Manae our host is a great cook. We requested for vegetarian food and she dished out something different every night. But there's a good restaurant about 15 min walk away from the place. The room and bathroom is very clean. The wifi was definitely a bonus! The price was comparable to some of the hotels in town, except you get a more authentic and quieter stay with Rura Raya. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed so much our time in Rura Raya, room was very clean with nice large windows that you can open and stay on the balcony with a view on Torajan houses in the garden. Diner and breakfast was amazing, very fresh and fulfilling. It was definitely our best stay and food around Rantepao.
