I liked the idea of it, a boat appealed very much but unfortunately didn’t live up to expectations.

The very first concern was the poor and unstable access particularly with luggage across a park that is bumpy with a steep slope to the jetty, also having to park our car in a public car park. The gang plank to the boat is on the other side of a wooden platform with a raised step midway and is extremely awkward to access, we are not elderly or unstable but both found this a very unsatisfactory first impression. On entering the boat there was a very bad smell, stale and musty which they tried to mask with a very strong and cloying reed diffuser which combined to make things worse. The boat was extremely cluttered, venetian blinds were bent and very dusty, entrance door was broken, endless untidy and jumbled cables everywhere. Old and faded DVDs lined up on show, the air vents had a thick build up of dirt and cobwebs. The lounge area is badly laid out with dated and tired furnishings. The cleaner greeted us when we arrived but as she was new to her job was unsure how everything worked. We spent one uncomfortable night of the three booked and paid for as this was meant to be a relaxing few days in ‘luxury surroundings’ on our long road trip, it was anything but. We left the key in the lockbox early after the one night and messaged the owner and received no response whatsoever, clearly they are not interested in why someone would leave two nights early!

Very unique location, loved the continual gentle rocking of the boat, and the serenity. The accommodation is very comfortable.

Entrance to the boat is a little awkward.

Fantastic location - really comfortable and well appointed barge. Ample space with several different lounging areas spread out across the barge.
