Hotel Sekisuien

It’s located very close to Gujo Castle and offers a beautiful view. The room was very spacious and everything was spotlessly clean. They also arranged a transfer to pick me up from the train station when I arrived in Gujo — which was a lifesaver, as it was raining.

If you’re not traveling by car, the 20-minute uphill walk to the hotel can be a bit tiring. Another important detail to keep in mind: rooms that don’t face the mountain and lack a balcony overlook a huge power generator that turns on at 7 AM and stays on until 11 PM, making it nearly impossible to get a good night’s sleep. After I raised the issue, the staff kindly upgraded me at no extra cost to a room with a view and a balcony, where the generator couldn’t be heard.

Absolutely lovely hotel well located close to the castle and a short (steep) walk to the centre of town. Excellently appointed rooms with plenty of space and a luxurious bathroom.

Breakfast time is too early, I'm sleepy. The air conditioner is limited to heater mode, so I needed to open window to get cold air (it's difficulty to get the desire temperature.)

The staff went above and beyond helping us with travel arrangements and restaurant reservations. I cannot stress enough how kind and helpful they were. The room was large and recently remodeled. It was nice to have space to spread out a bit.

isolated location and no meals easily accessible. - restaurant too fancy for what we were after. township dining was all closed. 2women had to wander on cold dark night ( 5pm) through town to find something to eat as restaurants said open on google but actually closed. After an hr found one place open which was excellent. No convenience stores open. no cafes open until 12noon lunchtime in town the following day. Suggest hotel shop stocks 2 minute noodles and offer light bfast options and coffee and tea options in room. Township was beautiful.

It is very clean and the room was spacious. We enjoyed the dinner and breakfast provided by the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful even though they barely speak English.
