"Prison food"

2.0

Highly rated & too much hype for bad cooking! Our chicken tagine looked & tasted like it was boiled in dishwater. The meatball dish drowned in red sauce was blah. Our American colleagues who ordered 2 beef steaks got 2 pieces of loin that tased off (we surmised it was camel meat or whatever, only Allah would know). We ordered white wine but server brought red wine & insisted it was white; after strong rejection he replaced it with a bottle of water! It took our Moroccan driver to convince the restaurant to bring a bottle of Moroccan white wine, which was all we consumed since food was simply inedible. It was a downside pass thru experience in Meknes for us!

"Very nice, cozy and clean Riad in a convenient location to stay in Meknes."

Very nice, newly refurbished, clean Riad, very close to the attractions and Medina of Meknes. Easy parking at a location nearby and helpful staff. Breakfast was delicious and overall service very very good.

"relaxing, serene, great food, sparkling clean riad, really well looked after,"

9.0

The Riad was beautifully, and recently, renovated; the premises were very clean; the owners go out of their way to make sure your visit is seamless - the owner organised a taxi from the station, and then a driver to bring us to Volublis and on to Fez, both at very reasonable cost. Their dinner is excellent (the owner is a french chef) - and breakfast was better than the other riads we’ve been to. Room was big and quiet.l at night. Also Meknes itself is really worth visiting - the medina is big enough for purchases and atmosphere, but much lower stress than Fes or Marrakech.

all perfect

"It is one of the high points of our two and half weeks holiday in Morocco."

Palais Marouane Riad & Restaurant is a testament to the power of following your dreams. The current owner's journey to this 300-year-old building was a lifetime investment and a personal commitment to his vision. His passion for the place, coupled with his training as a French chef, has made it a little palace. To live in such an accommodation is not for the faint-hearted. It requires one to manage associated risks and embrace cultural differences. However, the daily tasks provide mental satisfaction and fulfilment beyond commercial returns. As tourists, we get to experience the beauty of the place and the quality of customer care and service the people provide. But talking to the owner and his wife, their passion for this project is inspiring, especially in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. If you're looking for an example of what can be achieved following your dreams, Palais Marouane Riad & Restaurant is it. It's a reminder that with hard work, dedication, and a commitment to excellence, anything is possible. 🇲🇦😊🙏👍☕

"amazing host and great breakfast"

8.0

the host Soufiane was remarkably welcoming, nice and very engaged to be quiet during his work. he was very committed to work as noisless as possible. the yard of the riad is most beautiful, but the rooms are close to each other, he prepared breakfast for us with almost no noise at all not to disturb other guests which were still sleeping! he also was very helpful with tipps and other questions we had about meknes. we really felt special with him caring so much about our wellbeing. the riad itself is a very old beautiful building and has a nice rooftop terrace once the weather allows to enjoy it. it also has a hammam. the breakfast was amazing, we loved the omlett Soufiane cooked!

if other guests would be loud, it would be very noisy at times - but it was not the case for us so this is very hypothetical.

"Exceptional"

10.0

The Read is absolutely stunning throughout and the host was very welcoming and a fantastic chef! We chose the larger room and although it was on the ground floor it was worth it for the space and decor. Nico catered brilliantly for my coeliac (gluten free) dietary requirements and was so helpful in organising a taxi for our trip to Volubilis. The location is great as it is outside the Medina and in a quiet street near a nice open square and rooftop terraces.

Sound travels in Riads - this is to be expected but if you are wanting an earlier night, choose a room on an upper floor.
