Riad Palais Marouane

1. The Staff and Service - Soufiane was a pleasure to deal with. He was kind and extremely helpful with my family and I. We arrived later in the day and he put together a most excellent 3-course meal for my family on very short notice. It was a little cool in the riad and he promptly provided some warmer blankets for my children’s request. 10/10 for service. 10/10 - kindness, 10/10 for making my family feel welcome on our first trip to Morocco. 2. The Room - the room was above average standards. It had everything that is needed while on vacation. Shampoo and shower gel, towels, hair dryer, clean sheets and mattress, clean shower and toilet, toilet paper, comfortable pillows, television with a large selection of channels. 10/10 for the Room. 3. Noise level - our room was on the second floor and it was very quiet. As the Medina, souks, streets can be quite noisy..it was nice to escape all of that, to the serenity of our room. The riad was also very quiet. There were other families in the riad with small children but it was like we were there with only our family. As my wife and I are not party type people, it was nice to have some quiet time. 10/10 - for quiet and peaceful. 4. Location: situated within a 8-10min walk of souks, carriages and Medina. 10/10 for location.

I knew that Meknes was under construction. I had a long day and did not want to just pass Meknes by. I am so glad I booked this Riad. It has been meticulously refurbished. The wood work was beautiful. The clear glass ceiling. The rooms spotless. The bathroom spacious. Air condition worked well. The wifi worked well. I liked the location quiet.I was lucky and had the whole place to myself. The owner said I could pick the big room on the ground floor but I liked the room I chose on second floor. I felt very welcome. I loved the pet turtle roaming the grounds.I was traveling by myself. The owner does speaks limited English. His native language is French. We used my ipad to communicate. We had very good dinner conversation with it for about an hour. I could walk to the music museum in about 15 minutes 20 tops because of trying to cross the traffic. Mausoleum of Mouley Ismail is free and about a 7 minute walk.The owner even in the morning helped me get a cab to get me to the train station to get to my next destination. He waited till one showed up. Really so kind of him. Because I was alone he shut the lights off in the lobby area. I think he assumed I would just stay in my room. So I was coming down in the dark. When he realized this he turned the lights on.

Nice French owner who can make you dinner on request! Nice roof top terrace. Note: Riad has 3 lovely cats (they do walk around everywhere, so in the Riad and on the tables and in the kitchen, so if you don’t like cats, don’t go here)

Room looked different than in the pictures. Shower holder was broken. Mold in the bathroom. Sometimes a weird smell in the Riad itself and in the room. Riad is noisy so you hear a lot from others. Room didn’t have curtains so you can see a bit through the windows and there is a lot of light coming through windows at night. Quite expensive compared to other Riads we stayed at in Maroc. Note; all the sight seeings are renovated and closed at the moment, this will take more than a year, so don’t recommend to go to Meknes right now!

Nicole and his staff were extremely kind inviting us to join them and their friends for a fabulous meal that will be remembered for a long time. Thank you so much for everything!

A charming, spacious, and impeccably clean Riad situated just beyond the lively Medina, close to major attractions. Nicolas, Soufiane, and the entire team were delightful, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The dinners on two evenings were superb and plentiful. Nicolas, the owner and French chef, was very kind and helpful in organising local taxis for our trips to Volubilis and the train station. Would unquestionably choose to stay here again.

Beautiful little Riad that is just outside the Medina and close to all the sights. Nicolas, Soufiane and all the staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome. We had dinner both nights and it was excellent and plentiful, and so was the breakfast. Would definitely stay again
