Broadway Motel & Miro Court Villas

Had a very nice one night stay here. Handy spot in town, easy walk to shops and restaurants. Friendly staff. It was our first motel stop on our trip in NZ and I was pleasantly surprised in the facilities. Milk provided (as it was at all motels we stayed in). Parking outside the room.

The room was adequate old style Motel with parking straight outside the door. It was nicely refurbished, it was comfortable for one night stay.

We were woken at 3am by an Air Raid siren 3 times, coming from Australia we had no idea what this meant. In the morning we found out apparently this is to tell emergency services there has been a car accident or a fire. So they need to wake the whole town at 3am. Apparently this is quite common in small town NZ. Having shown dogs all over Australia for 10 years we have stayed all over the country in the most remotest of areas in oz and never experienced this this but that's just how they do things in NZ . We asked but "how do they know where they need to go", "well they call the base" Hmmm so the base could not call or message them and not have to wake the whole town ? or even use a UHF CB system. I guess if they have to get up the whole town has to get up lol. I guess its not their fault at the motel but I would rather have stayed in Auckland or Rotorua and made the day trip to Hobbiton and had a good nights sleep. I just wanted to let other travelers know this could happen if they book in these small towns in NZ.

Large room, clean, choice of beds, good facilities with lovely gardens - pool and indoor hot tub. Easy walk to town with range of bars and restaurants. Laundry facilities good.

Couldnt have asked for much more

Well i only stay for 8/10 night and was told id be reimbursed
