Northern Lake Lodge

The property is situated at the far Western end of Qarun Lake. It was such a beautiful respite from the intensity of Cairo. Peaceful, quiet, serene, the air was fresh, the sky gorgeously blue and filled with bird song and gentle breezes. The bungalow itself was marvelous. My 10 year old was absolutely delighted with her loft bunk bed and spent hours playing in it, using it as a fort. The room was simple, cleverly designed, and tasteful and the bathroom was clean and fresh and finished with very pretty tiles. There were big windows with screens and both a fan and AC. The grounds were beautifully maintained with flowers and plants everywhere. Everywhere I looked was filled with beauty. The staff were SO kind. Ahmed, the owner-operator went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed. My 10 year old liked him so much that she wrote him a card. The food was exceptionally delicious - both the complimentary breakfast and the a la carte dinner. We LOVED it. Ahmed also arranged a safari trip for us to visit Wadi Hitan National Park - site of the prehistoric whale and mangrove fossils. That excursion was truly remarkable and should not be missed. Our guide, Waleed, was professional, kind and supremely competent. He was great with both of my children. They have their own delicious olives from the land that will soon be available for sale. I really can’t say enough good things about this place. We will definitely be back.

Nothing. All was perfect

Very tranquil surroundings in the middle of the nature, with olive groves around and very well thought of any details of the bungalows, including the mosquito nets that enabled a cool air flow during the night. Very unique wooden bungalows in Egypt and also very clean! Bird watching especially of flamingos in winter months is a walking distance from the camp and can be amazing. Just go early in the morning to see the best. Ahmed, the manager and co-owner, is very polite and cooperative. And he gave us his very first jars of his own pickled olives from the grove :-).

Nothing really. Mosquitos are what You must expect around the lake but the bungalows are well equipped against these insects so You must only be careful in the evening when opening the door.

The place was calm, clean, and full of peace — exactly what we needed to recharge. The whole team was wonderful! Ahmed, the manager, is a wonderful and very cooperative person who truly cared about our comfort and made sure we had everything we needed. Hisham took great care of us and even helped when my friend wasn’t feeling well. The chef cooked delicious meals every time. And our amigo Waleed — such a kind and energetic man who really made our trip special. He took us on one of the best safari tours we’ve ever had.

I recently stayed at Northern Lake Lodge, and it was an unforgettable experience that highly exceeded my expectations. Located just a couple hours from the hustle and bustle of Cairo, the peaceful setting, with a beautiful view of the desert, calmed me instantly, and my simple yet clean and cozy tent welcomed me each evening with a warm, comfortable bed. The unique decor and attention to detail was lovely and didn't go unoticed. The meals were delicious, offering fresh, flavorful Egyptian cuisine and dining on the terrace or outside my tent's table, looking at the view was memorable. The full day desert tour was The Best! I had a once in a lifetime experience with my fabulous Bedouin guide, Walid, who was passionate about sharing the beauty of what Fayoum had to offer. The dreamy landscapes and variety of the desert was unlike any I've seen -- and I've been to many deserts around the world. Don't forget to look at the sky at night. Truly magical! The staff, including the owner, Nasr, were exceptional--attentive, welcoming, and they went out of their way to make my stay there memorable. Waheed, the soft and lovable Lodge dog, provided comfort and companionship and made sure I was safe when I went for walks. She was a pleasure to have around. I LOVE her! If you're looking for a unique and peaceful desert escape, Northern Lake Lodge is the perfect choice. I will be back!
