Beautiful views of the Hakone mountains. Outstanding service from everyone and big, beautiful, traditional Japanese meals.

Our traditional onsen felt old and a bit moldy.

We booked Hoshi no Akari as a last-minute change and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. It offered a wonderful traditional Japanese experience and the staff could not have done more for us – they were exceptionally helpful, polite and friendly throughout our stay. Our room had a hot bath on the balcony overlooking the mountains, which was a truly memorable experience. Both the Japanese dinner and breakfast were included and provided a fantastic opportunity to try a wide variety of local dishes. There was so much food and it felt like a real immersion into Japanese culture. We were even provided with a kimono to wear around the hotel, which added to the authenticity. We only stayed one night, but it was the perfect introduction to traditional Japanese hospitality and culture. Highly recommended.
