From the moment I stepped on the houseboat till I deboarded, the staff was extremely kind, attentive and very accommodating. The meals were top-notch. I wanted to try toddy and the captain helped me to purchase it from a local vendor. Do not miss canoeing in the backwaters to see tiny hamlets on both sides, giving a glimpse into the everyday lives of the people there. My room was surprisingly comfortable, much higher than I expected. The leisurely cruise gave me time to relax and absorb the calmness of nature. No TV or wifi, which is great for digital detox. It's a must-do in Kerala.

The proposed overnight stop - in a boatyard surrounded by countless other boats - promised to be horrendous so, after a little bit of negotiation with Shenil, Marvel's manager, the captain sought another location in a more isolated location, to moor for the night. Similarly, the amount of cruising time in the morning from the overnight stop to the boatyard was only thirty minutes, which was very disappointing (had we been moored overnight where we were intended to moor - in sight of the boatyard, in fact - it would have been less). The paid wifi hardly functioned. Add to that the (extra paid) hour long excursion by canoe, and there was not that much cruising time at all. To summarise: the disappointment arose primarily from the lack of cruising time (check-in is at 12, the cruising day ended at 5.30 and, with an hour-long canoe trip, and - if desired, another stop for a visit to a cathedral - that doesn't leave much cruising time, and only 30 minutes in the morning).

Enjoyed everything. It exceeded our expectations. The onboarding process was explained clearly and the boat itself is amazing - authentic and very comfortable. The crew make the trip though - they point out all of the interesting facts about the area, particularly the nature, and the chef prepares the most amazing food throughout your stay. If we are ever in Kerala again we would book again and you should too!

In the morning,after an early breakfast, the boat sails back to the starting point and day 2 ends at 09.00 AM. I think it is better to book a 2 nights itinerary or no night at all.

This has been the most surreal experience we have had on a House boat. It’s been amazing from start to finish. Our hosts, captains Antony&Liju And Chef Rajesh looked after us so much, nothing was an issue. So much Great local food,very tasteful and delicious😊. Wonderful scenery, great wildlife and memories not to be forgotten Thank you marvel Cruise, you have a great team of Guys you should be very proud of. Colin& Louise
