"Highly recommended for a get away in the mountains!"

The very friendly, helpful Akihiro and Naoko as well as private onsens made our stay lovely! Nakaodaira also has a nice “homey” feel and clean, large rooms.

The food was incredible, many ingredients were foraged by the owner. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and intuitive. The hot springs were all private and gorgeous. They drove us to an from the bus stop.

The couple running the property warmly and kindly welcomed us and served delicious meals. There outside onsens had a beautiful view to the snowy mountain peak. The mood there was of complete relaxation.

"Wonderful experience - great hospitality"

Absolute highlight of my stay in Japan. The baths are wonderful and you can use them privately (this would be great for couples and shy travellers who aren’t comfortable baring all in a public onsen!) . Food is excellent. Best part are the staff/owners - so friendly and helpful. I had some dietary requirements (I’m a pescatarian) and they were more than happy to oblige.

It’s in a beautiful mountain location - not a bad thing - but just bear in mind you will need to get a bus there (this was easy to do and the stop is close by)

The food was delightful and served splendidly. We used the outdoor bath at night with a clear sky and the setting was magical.

I don't sleep well on floor mats (my wife slept fine).
