"Nice place for short stay and enjoy the huge onsen"

The surrounding was beautiful and the price was cheap for such big room.

The corridor is smelly and the room is too hot. Fortunately we can open the window so that the air in the room is fresh and become not too hot. The onsen is great and huge, but the water in some pool is dirty

The traditional Japanese room we got was very fine. It was well appointed, looked to be clean enough, and had a very nice view from the 8th floor. The bedding was good, and expected facilities fine. The outdoor bath was nice.

The place is badly in need of maintenance and a thorough cleaning. Carpet in public areas are worn to the point of being torn. The onsen facilities are very good, but there was debris on the bottom of the mens' baths. The breakfast restaurant looked and felt unclean and the food was not presented very pleasantly, although there was certainly enough of it. Overall, it looks like the owners are running the property down.

"Traditional ryokan near epic backcountry skiing!"

Really traditional ryokan hotel! Great breakfast included. Huge onsen! A bit more remote than other places on Hokkaido but still only 45min-1 hour from backcountry skiing. The Kurodake ropeway was closed for the slow season but if it was open there would have been skiing 10 min away!

No cold pool at the onsen.

Enjoyed a wonderful warm Onsen experience in the snow. The Sounkyo area is a beautiful winter wonderland.

The property is a bit run down and buffet meals are not kept warm.
