Onsen

Food was pathetic and staff were unfriendly. Cleaning staff entered the room with their key’s without permission

The location was good very near the Kurobe mountain and waterfalls. The mixed outdoor onsen was good

The women onsen was not very clean as there were white debris in the water. Suspect that they are paint that dropped off from the stair handle going into the onsen. At some point the bathing area of onsen was a bit flooded as well looks that the dirty water was about to flood into the onsen but it was fixed quickly after notification to the operator. The room has cigarette smell and quite small for 4 person.p

The staff of the hotel were amazing. We wanted to reconfigure our rooms, and Natalia at reception worked wonders to accommodate us, and very generously so. When I had trouble understanding the Japanese symbols on the television remote control, she came to the room and set it up for me, which I really appreciate being able to get news in English on NHK. The last day, I fell on a trail up on the mountain and cut my leg, and the receptionist on duty gave me antiseptics and bandages. This hotel is an amazingly good value at about 8,000 Japanese Yen per person per night, including a wonderful breakfast. And the outdoor owns and Hot Springs we're not only soothing but also beautiful.

Hard to think of anything that I did not like. But one one potential problem for Western Travelers is that the sign for the hotel is only in Japanese letters, and does not spell out k a n k o u in Roman alphabet, so we walked right by it at first.

Very spacious room.

Crowded dining hall, don’t like the buffet system. Bath house facilities not well maintained.

Had an amazing time here, the mixed gender onsen was a good first onsen experience with my fiancé. It was very cool to stay in a Japanese style room and the futon were very comfy.

DO NOT STAY HERE IN THE SUMMER. Although the listing says air conditioning it's BARELY functional. We were lucky it was only mid twenties when we stayed otherwise we would have had to stay somewhere else. We still barely slept as it was far too hot and we couldn't open the window because of bugs and no window screen.
